View Full Version : Dolphin Excursions
We only have just over a year to plan our cruise and are running out of time fast!!! lol
The kids have mentioned they would like to swim with the dolphins but I'm not sure if it is worth the money. Can anyone advise on this and also would we be better booking it for the cruise or arranging something similar ie Discovery Cove in Orlando?
The kids will be 6 and 9. My wife will go in with them and probably there would be three adults watching.
thanks. :confused2 :confused2 :confused2

We did Discovery cove 2 years ago, it was wonderful and we will def do it again.
You do get admission to Seaworld in with the cost also food and drinks.
It was one of the most memorable days we had.

I had this dilema too; my kids will be 6 & 10...but after ummming for so long I eventually decided that with less park time due to the cruise, and the fact that the youngest will only be 6, that we'd leave it till our next trip.
I also worried we'd be doing too many 'highlights' that particular trip - its nice to leave something else to look forward to in the future. :erm:
Sorry not to be much help :confused2 ...but personally if you intend to go back I'd wait just a few more years so the kids will get more out of the day itself, and you will get more park 'traditional' park time if going on a cruise as well.

We did the Dolphin Swim, Nassau in Sept whilst on the Disney Wonder and loved it - worth every penny. You cant book the swim through the cruise only the encounter. My nephew was 10 and for him it was amazing but the water is deep, he was thrilled by it and I would say the right age. Definitely worth the time and money IMHO. However I cant compare it with Discovery Cove.

What are your destinations on the 7night Western?
We are doing a 7 night Western with Royal Caribbean and one of the stops is Cozumel in Mexico. :thumbs-up
We have booked the Dophin Royal Swim for our daughter instead of doing Discovery Cove ~ less than half the price and here is what it incorporates... Miminum age is supposed to be 8 but if they are tall enough they can do it at 7!
Full excitement: action and speed!
This is, undoubtedly, the most famous of Dolphin Discovery’s programs and can be summarized in two words: action and speed.
Two dolphins welcome you with an affectionate handshake, a kiss on the cheek, and let you give them one as well. Later, they take you for an original and speedy ride while you hold on to their fins. The most thrilling moment of this program is during the foot-push, when you feel all the strength of your new friends while they push you across the water from the bottom of your feet. It is truly “the experience of a lifetime!”
Hi, the cruise visits Key West, Grand Cayman and finally Cozumel. The Dolphin Royal Swim sounds fab however my youngest will be 6 1/2 when we go and she very petite for her age!!! I think I'll give it a look anyway. Thanks.
