We like to go to St Petes for the day. Parking is right beside the beach - no roads to cross etc. It costs $5 for the day. You have to pay the $5 with a credit or debit card.

Hi

We have done Cocoa Beach and you can park near the beach, if you go to Daytona you can drive onto the beach, also if you want somewhere different try Kennedy Space Centre they have a nature reserve with beach but I think we had to pay when we went there, and there are no facilities so take plenty of drinks if you go there.

we went to Merritt Island near Kennedy Space Center - there is a beach but nothign else (I think it's the nature reservice faz1964 mentioned)

it was a little too quiet for me! I prefer a few shops around for the obligatory ice-cream or drink.

If you want the Gulf Coast then St Pete's and Clearwater are your best bets. Both lovely. Daytona and Cocoa are Atlantic coast and are good days out too but very different to the Gulf.

It can get very very very hot on the Gulf coast beached. You really need a parasol in the summer.

I like St Petes beach (Treasure Island) but found it difficult for parking, no public parking and ended up in the turning at the side of Crabby Bills on a meter

Would be interested to know where others park then for $5

Clearwater for me was more accessible and easier on parking / facilities restrooms etc

Hi,

Definately head for Clearwater, our favourite beach.

In the evening the Pier comes alive with craft stalls and there are street entertainers.

Worth staying late for. :wavey:

When we`re in Orlando we always visit St. Pete`s for the day. We spend a few hours at the beach and then drive down to the pier. DH and our sons fish whilst I have a look around the pier shops and aquarium. A two minute drive up the road is a small shopping mall called The Bay where there is a really nice Johnny Rockets. Another really nice place to visit is Madeira Beach and John`s Pass. Have a look at these web sites. www.stpetebeach.com www.stpete-pier.com www.floridasbeach.com www.johnspass.com :-)
