I really really want to travel in upper class and thanks to my flying club miles should be able to organise a long weekend somewhere next year. Thing is it's been a dream of mine for years and when I do it I want to make the most of it (I know, bit sad!).
So question is, should I try to get a flight that goes from Heathrow so I get the bigger cabin and beauty treatments, not to mention the groovy looking clubhouse. And is food, drinks and treatments free in the clubhouse cos if it is I was thinking it might be a good idea to get there early and make the most of it.
Also has anyone used their chauffer service? Do they just get a local cab company in, I don't really fancy that man with the BO and the beer belly starting off my weekend of luxury :d:

Any other tips on getting the most from it or even someone bringing me down to earth and telling me it's not all that, would be much appreciated.

We flew to Dubai UC out of Heathrow , food and drink is included in the lounge , but the chauffer service is only for a particular class of UC ticket ( ie the expensive one lol ).You need to book the treatments , however when we went for ours they had no record of them being booked , despite me phoning to book , and on the flight over there was no beauty therapist

You can book the chauffer service one way for 12,500 flying club miles so I don't know wether to spend the miles or get DH to put on a hat and call me madam :d:
Did you manage to get your treatments anyway? I wonder if they only have beauty therapists inflight on certain routes?

Seems a waste of miles tbh lol , we had a limo ( kids birthday present for dh ) , The therapist called in sick , they only have one per flight , got a manicure on the way back though.

You must have a hell of a lot of miles btw , ive been using mine for miles plus money

If you're going to spend miles then bear in mind not every route will have availability - the LHR routes will definitely give you more choice though. The LHR clubhouse is far superior to the one at Gatwick too, all food and drink is included and you should get the treatments you request. Definitely get there early and you can easily spend 3+hours in there without getting bored.

Also think of the destination too, Virgin Clubhouse facilities are available in destinations other than the UK too, such as San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong and the newest one in Japan. Many other destinations have the use of shared lounges but they're aren't as good.

I'd probably suggest NYC or San Fran if you want to guarantee a beauty therapist on board but there is still no guarantee you will get a treatment as there is no way the therapist can attend to everyone on board. Priority is given to those not having had a treatment in the lounge, anyone with a priority card and gold card holders.

I haven't used the chauffeur services in the UK as I don't think it's a good use of miles but you certainly wouldn't get a local cab company. I have used the service in Miami and a limo was provided. It can be a very good way to use miles in the USA as they will take you to anywhere within the state.

Hope that helps a bit, if you've got any more questions give me a shout.

Oh I have earnt a huge amount of miles Lesley1960 (my names Lesley too btw) I'm so pleased with myself!
We have extended and totally redecorated our house in the last couple of years and most of that went on the Virgin credit card. Then all my everyday spends too. Plus I have my husband on as extra card holder so he earns the miles too. Then to really maximise I pay for the option of earning double air miles (think its about £80) But thats money well spent as I have got four PE flights for next year out of it.

Thanks Speedway fan. I would probably do NYC as they seem to have the most availability but would love a longer flight just to make the most of my freebie

Not sure what you mean by the car bonus.

If you are using miles to book a full redemption fare (not M+M) you can use another 12,500 per single journey for the limo - I've done it a few times.

You cannot get the limo on a Z fare (or any fare used by Virgin Holildays), only on a J or D ticket.

i'm thinking of treating myself to a upper class seat when i go to NY at Christmas, VA have a sale on at present.

economy is £423 and premium economy is £969 UC £1341

though BA is £365, £600 or £1200

which is better for upper class BA or Virgin?

OMG, you are going to have such a fab christmas! Well done you for treating yourself. Only just seen your other post sorry, but I think you've made the right decision on VA. I have read a few threads comparing the two and VA usually seems to be the winner. Have a wonderful time and don't forget to get your pampering treatments if you can.

I prefer BA to Virgin. BA also offer best value - buy a WT+ ticket and upgrade to Club (Upper Class) for only 25,000 BA Miles. That said, you will have a great time on Virgin - you'll just have to try BA next time so you can compare. :thumbs-up
