Hey all. Got back from a fortnight in WDW on 11th Sept, although my work load at work has meant I have not had time to write on here...until now.
Bit of an intro. Me and my girlfriend are both Vegetarian, and I wanted to give people an idea of veggie dining in WDW. To be honest I was enjoying myself too much to take any photos but I am hoping the following will be a good general guide. There are other treads on here that discuss the individual menu items. 99% of the time we ate in WDW so most reviews refer to food outlets "on property".
It is worth saying that eating as a veggie at WDW is far easier than at DLP - when I was there if I had to eat another omlette burger I think I would have exploded! Although I consider myself a strict vegetarian, not eating things such as gelatine, I cannot vouch for the fact that the food is wholly vegetarian - for example do they cook the fries in the same fryer as the chicken nuggets. I work on the fact that I am on holiday, and what I don't know won't hurt me!
Counter Service Restaurant Desserts It is worth checking out the vegetarian-ness (is that a word?!) of dessets offered counter service restaurants. For example the rice krispy mickey and strawberry yogurt contains gelatin!
Cosmic Rays & Peco Bills Both offer an excellent veggie burger if you can put up with the shocking service. These are a "quorn" style burger. Both restaurants have a burger toppings bar which is a nice touch. Watch out for the dessets though (see above!)
Coral Reef Well worth eating in if not just for the fantastic view of the tank. Only one veggie choice the pesto risotto. I would rate this is "ok" however my girlfriend found the blue cheese too overpowering for her taste. After a few mouthfuls that was her done..
Garden Grill Food was just above average but I would definately go there again. The interaction with the characters is fantastic and it is my first time in a revolving restaurant. The dish was an all-you-can eat veggie spaghetti dish - it can't be that bad as I had seconds. Very berry puff pastry not to either of our tastes and both were left uneated. Seriously I have never laughed so much as when I was in there and chip & dale were getting up to mischief!
Sunshine Seasons Nice selection. Hot veggie sandwich/panini is lovely as is veggie sushi. Nice for a quick bite
Harry Ramsdens Did not eat in here as I understand, that like their UK restaurants, they cook in beef fat
Liberty Inn Same veggie burgers as described above. Veggie dessers are limited.
50s Prime Time Cafe We had a great time here, and it made up for what was otherwise a dissapointing park. Main meal is a stuffed pepper (stuffed with veggie rice). The main fun is keeping mom happy (or trying to get other people in trouble!)
Breakfastosaurus A great buffet with quite a few veggie choices - ask the server for a veggie omlette. Although obviously the real reason we went there was for the Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Please note CMs will try to sell you the photo taken before you go into the restaurant. I understand you can add this to your photopass, or if you don't want the photo refuse the shoot (personally I hate this practice of selling while you are eating)
Earl of Sandwich Nice hot veggie sandwich - great for a late night bite.
Raglan Road Great meal. Main course is a portabello mushroom dish. One of our best meals on site and great atmosphere.
Boma If you are veggie (and even if you are not) JUST GO! If Raglan Road was good then this restaurant is amazing. One not to miss. I will definately be returning on my next visit (at least once!)
Victoria and Albert Provided an excellent veggie menu. An amazing meal, although a little too "posh" to truely relax (IMO) The food however is out of this world
Beaches an Cream We sadly only discovered this on the last day in orlando. A great veggie burger and fantastic ice cream. Again one not to miss.
Others It is worth remembering that it is relatively easy to find a veggie option at 99% of restaurants (except for the most dedicated steak house). The Burger King Veggie burger is much nicer than the ones available over here. At Hard Rock Cafe it was the worst veggie burger I have ever had - shame as when I have recently eaten them in London/Manchester/Lisbon they have been amazing. Must have been an off day.
Never did make it to Sweet Tomatoes which I hear is very good....
I hope at least some people find this info helpful. One last piece of general advice - for some restaurants ADRs are essential and invaluable. But you can plan too much and you end up planning your days around where you are going to eat rather than what park you are going to......
