Anybody know what happened to Disney's 'other' water park? I remember it being in brochures back in the 90's when we were at early planning stage of our first trip ('97). Did anyone ever visit this park and what was it like? (sorry can't remember it's name - something about a river or water hole I think...)

Was it river country. The names rings a bell but don't know if it was owned by Disney or not.

It was called River Country, closed its doors in 2001 due to new
water regulations. With River Country being natural water they
deemed it to be unsafe due to contamination from wildlife.

Just checked it on wikipedia - that's the one...

You can still see it at this link;

Much smaller than TL or BB, no wonder they closed it. Also mentions river snakes in the water. Nice...

I've just been looking at the history behind Epcot ('Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow') - didn't realise that the original concept was an actual city - Walt's idea of a future Utopia...

Is Celebration not just the idea of the perfect American community, a utopia, but presumably not Walt's vision of the future? As I understand , it is micromanaged from who can move there to the length of grass on peoples front lawns - always sounded a bit stepford wives to me!

Epcot was supposed to have some sort of mass public transit that is actually now the Tomorrowland Tansit Authority ride in MK. My, the Internet is full of useful/less info isn't it?!?

Whenever I go into Celebration I cannot stop thinking of the movie 'The Truman Show'!

We loved River Country, I remember my daughter (now nearly 13) splashing about in the water with Goofy and Minni in their swimsuits. This would have been about 1996 I think.

River Country was lovely, we really enjoyed our time there and I missed it when it closed. You can still see it from the ferry from MK to WL/FW.
