 Hi :wavey:
Looking to go to Vegas, L.A then follow on to San Francisco. While in Vegas hubbie wants to stay at the Stratoshere but I wasn't sure if its dated now. Has anyone stayed there and if so how did you find it.

The Stratosphere is quite far down the strip now. We have been twice and stayed in the Luxor both times and it was fantastic. If you stay in Vegas Sun - Thur you get the rooms at mega cheap prices. Weekends are extortionate though.
If you go, make sure you visit Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas on a night. The street has a ceiling made of lightbulbs and they do a fantastic light show every half hour or so at night. There are street entertainers and a really good, party atmosphere.
I love Vegas (and I don't even gamble).
Mandy.
Really dont understand it when people say " oh the Stratosphere its far down the strip" but then proceed to say that they stayed at the Luxor. Pray forgive me but isnt the Luxor at one end of the strip and the Stratosphere at the other ? So which ever one you stay at you are at an " end ". For all you that havent been before think Seaworld and Wet n Wild.

i sort of agree. they are both situated at one end of the strip or the other, we stayed at luxor and although it is a fantastic hotel/casino i felt as if i was constantly going passed excalibur and new york new york to get anywhere, if/when i go back i would prefer something more central...maybe treasure island or planet hollywood ( used to be aladin), that way you have a choice of exploring north or south. haven't stayed at the stratosphere..but it is at the 'older' end of the strip

The Strat end of the strip is quite barren and appears run down, whereas the Luxor end has lots of activity. Personally I would stay in the Luxor, or at least towards that end.
I would be interested to see your planning, as we are starting to plan a similar trip next September.
Hope you have a great time.

We stayed at the Stratosphere three years ago. Its a great hotel although I would agree about it being abit far from the action.
There seems to be much more going on at the other end of the strip although there is plenty to do at the Statosphere end. Circus Circus is close by for instance

We're actually staying at the Bellagio, but I've heard the restaurant on top of the Stratosphere is fabulous! If you can, get google earth, you can get a better idea of location and distance. I've been planning our trip for a while now, and yes, the Luxor may be at one end and the Stratosphere the other, but I think that the Luxor certainly appears to have more around it and so doesn't seem as remote perhaps.
