I seem to remember that when we went to Miami, they made a bit thing about the Hard Rock Casino on the outskirts of Miami beeing the only Casino in Florida as it was allowed as it was built on semiole indian land and that no other casinos were allowed apart from the casion cruise boats that go up and dwn the coast

Hard Rock in Tampa will be the closest. It isn't anything fancy like the other Hard Rock Casino's but it works if you are just looking for gambling.

Take a look at the Ford Ampitheatre (http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/2651) schedule as they are right across the street and often have some great shows going.
