Upgrading Disney Resort hotel on Arrival

Hi

We are staying in Port Orleans French Quarter

On arrival i was going to ask if i can upgrade to say Wilderness lodge or Contemporary Resort for our stay and pay Disney Direct.

Can i ring them and do it before i go

we are booked with TCD and their upgrade prices are ridiculous even compared with the prices on the Disney website

you would be better off trying to do this before you go, doing it when you get there will nean drivin between hotels.

... if it's WL you want then recc you upgrade before you go
... WL is reported to be the most highly booked hotel on Disney
... popular with americans due to theming
... plan ahead to avoid disappointment

We booked Coronado Springs one year and were so disappointed with our room on arrival we went to reception and asked about moving to the Wilderness Lodge (which we had then stayed at before and loved) - they said we could but it worked out at around £600 for 9 nights!!!!!! (this was in 2002) - we could have afforded it but decided that it was silly at that price, so stayed where we were.
I really do think that room upgrades are better when booked before arrival.
