Hi,

I went to Canada when I was younger and from what I remember it is beautiful.

Deffo look into going to Banff, BC , Calgary, Lake Louise.

My sister flew into Calgary and they hired an RV and did their own driving tour,so thats an option you may consider.

We recently flew with Air Canada and they were really good.

Hi Gnasher!
We did the Candian Rockies this summer. Flew Manchester to Calgary with Thomas Cook, booked with Canadian Affair. Hire car through National. Stayed 7 nights at the Lodges at Canmore , booked direct. Great base for Banff, Lake Louise etc. Stayed 3 nights in Jasper at the Whistler Inn, again booked direct( last minute change 'cos we had booked the Pocahontas Log Cabins and they got a bad write up on trip advisor) and then 3 nights at the Fantasyland Hotel at the West Edmonton Mall in a themed suite. Have a look at their website. we were in the African Savannah suite. And then one night at the Ramada in Drumheller( dinosaur area, Canadian Badlands) and then back to Calgary.
And I thought there was nowhere better than Florida...... you will be blown away by the scenery.
PM me if I can help further.

We came back from Canada on Monday! Fabulous again. We flew into Vancouver and stayed 3 nights, took the ferry over to Victoria and stayed 3 nights then headed to the Rockies. Broke our journey in Kamloops, then had 3 nights in log cabins on Patricia Lake at Jasper and finished with 4 nights in Banff. And it snowed on our last few days at Lake Louise and Banff. Absolutely stunning. We booked with Canadian Affair and they were, as usual, very, very good.
Already looking into dates for next year, although thinking more about May/June for the spring colous and flowers this time instead of the fall.
Good luck with your planning, you'll love it! xxx

Another thumbs up for Canadian Affair.
In particular the west coast flights which are very good value.

We had two fantastic weeks in Canada back in April. Spent a week in Vancouver and did all the usual sights there - did a fantastic whale watch cruise from Granville island - saw some whales but not the Orca so have got a free trip with them next time as they guarentee sightings or free trip!!!! Loved Grouse mountain, Stanley Park etc!!! We then did two days on the Rocky Mountaineer which was fantastic and a week in Canmore which was fantastic. We flew with Air Canada who were very good indeed.
Do pm if you want to know anything else - it really is the most fantastic place - the american people are lovely but so are the Canadians!!!

[QUOTE=poppyland3;1808755], then had 3 nights in log cabins on Patricia Lake at Jasper /QUOTE]

Poppyland, are these known as the Patricia Lake Bungalows??? These looked beautiful online and its where we were trying to swop to after reading the reviews on the Pocahontas Cabins( I let my DH book them on his own :nonono: BIG mistake!)
They had no availabilty for our stay but went to look at them anyway and they looked lovely. There was another other lake around the corner with a jetty, they had cabins too I think and a restaurant.Maybe that was Pyramid Lake?

Yes, Patricia Lake Bungalows are right beside the lake, and if you drive past a little way you come to Pyramid Lake.
The bungalows are lovely, very peaceful and in an absolutely stunning setting. There is a hot tub (for the very brave) and a BBQ area, all the bungalows are self catering, but there are plenty of places to eat in Jasper (L&W does excellent greek food aswell as traditional fayre) so cooking may not be needed! Get up early and watch from your doorway as the elk eat their way through the window boxes!!
I will go back in a heart beat, and recommend to anyone. xx

OMG! We ate at L&W a couple of nights too! The food was great and a lovely atmosphere...especially those enormous house plants. I would also recommend a vist to Mount Edith Cavell and the Angel Glacier. We also dod the Columbia Ice Fields Tour. Ahh, I've gone all wistful now!
Maybe we should start a thread with Rockies photos?

I went to Vancouver in April, because my son lives there now with his Canadian girlfriend. He works as a skiing instructor at Grouse Mountain, and loves it. The city was great, full of life but everything was easily walkable. I also went to Whistler, which I really enjoyed.

My parents went to Newfoundland to visit my cousin & his family. They flew in to Halifax where Steve picked them up from and they stayed with him & his family in St John's. They had a brilliant time and had great fun out spotting whales & icebergs even though it was June!

Summer temperatures may be more appealing - but the scenery is still as good, possibly better in March / April.
