Going to Barcelona next week and just wondered if anyone had any advice to give us: such a getting around, what to see other than usual touristy things, any where good to eat, anything at all really

Only spent one day in Barcelona and an hour and a half of it was in a police station reporting being pick pocketed - so my advice is to be fully aware that Barcelona is the pick pocket capital of Europe so take care.
We wen't on the tour bus, our first and really only stop was the Nou Camp footie stadium which was top of our list to visit, but we would have been better off taking a taxi.
However when we were on the bus some of the architecture is quite stunning and it appeared to be a very beautiful city, enjoy your visit.

A few years ago, whilst we were holidaying in Salou, we went on an organised day trip to Barcelona.
There is a fab Marina, a touristy must of strolling up Las Ramblas, the famous architecture of Gaudi, the Olympic stadium, the football ground and not forgetting the famous dancing fountains.
Have a fab time!

Hello
Myself and DH went in Feb and had a fab time, go on the Barcelona tour bus, where you can get on and off as you please, if not just ride around and get your bearings. Visit Montjuic, where the Olympic stadium is, Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, gothic town and the Nou Camp. We were able to get tickets for a game which if you love football is a must, really enjoyed it. The marine is a lovely place to eat, lots of seafood restaurants. Las Rambles is a very lively street, with lots of market stools, beware of your bags cos this gets very busy. If you have to use the underground it is very cheap and safe. Hope the weather is nice and have a lovely time like we did.

Just off of the Ramblas there is a fantastic bar, done out like a fairys grotto, its amazing and well worth a visit, its towards the harbour end, near the wax works from memory the name of it slips my memory
Definately do the tourist bus tour. On the red tour it will take you to the finucular to Mt. Tibidabo where there is a magnificent church on a mountain and the best views of the City. Don't do this too late in the afternoon without checking the tram times.
On La Ramblas there is a really cheap place to eat called Maoz Vegetarian. It is about half way down. Don't judge it by looks as it is not much but if you like falafels then order the works for about 7 euros each you will have a feast.
Watch your pockets and bags on La Ramblas as it is full of pick pockets. Don't be tempted to eat on the eateries in the middle pathway as the prices are steep.
The underground system is good but be prepared to walk a long way when changing trains.
Are you staying in BCN or travelling in? We stayed in Calafell which about 35 minutes out of BCN. Very quiet resort with very clean beaches.
If you get a chance then do the cable car at port olympic. Fab views.
TIP: when exiting train stations look at the local land marks as it will save time on the return journey.
If you have anymore questions then pls do ask. Apart from what the others have said and the above you will have a great time. I have to BCN 3 times and I love the city.

Hi My work colleague has just returned and they had there credit cards stolen. a very big scam, a man in front of them dropped something they picked it up and offered it to him. He denied any knowledge of it, A policeman then arrived on the scene and accused my friend of buying drugs off this man, got them into quite a state doing various things and saying allsorts. He had ID as a policemen, but he told them to go. When they got around the corner they looked in their purse, and to their horror both had had their cards stolen.
They then had to spend hours in the police station, trying to tell them that a policeman had done this to them, a very difficult situation.
It does spoil what could have been a nice break.
