There are loads of hotels in NYC and everyone I speak to seems to have stayed in a different one!!

I stayed in the Edison - great location and great value as there were 4 of us in a room.

I had heard from a travel agent that the room prices for NYC will go up after Nov 10th as thats xmas shopping period.

There were lots of little booths and shops selling show tickets and I am sure if you were not fussy about what you saw you could get a bargain.

You will have a fab time!

Great news Gaz. :-) I thought you`d already done New York on your way to Orlando in the summer, so would know about which hotels to stay in, what sites to see etc. Maybe I`ve got this wrong though, it has been known to happen!! ;-)

The Edison is good, as is the Wellington, both near times Square and Central Park. Maybe do a search for Midtown Manhattan Hotels? Continental Airlines are fine, no problem at all.

Sounds good to me. As I have said in other posts I am at the planning stage for November 2008 so read all the NY threads with avid interest.
I would think Times Square area is the best and most central from what I have read. I think it depends on your budget which hotel you go for.

We've flown Continental from Bristol a few times now and rate them highly :) (I'm guessing you may be flying from BRS as I see you're in Somerset?)

Pros
Lovely staff - I found them nicer than VA & BA
Super quick flight - 7 hours out and on the way back it was only 6 hours!
Bristol airport easy to get around and very quick to collect cases, get car and be home on the way back, far far far preferable to long journey back from Gatwick, not to mention the long lines at security etc

Cons
No seatback TVs (this doesn't matter to me but may to some)
Ummm... can't think of any others!

Hope that helps :)

Hi

1. We did flight with continential airlines from Glasgow to Newark. Good flights and on times.

2. We booked Wellington Hotel near the times square, hard rock.

3. We never bother with broadway. But when we were in New York , we saw sold out. Hope someone give you advice about it.

4. Plenty to see liberty, shopping, empire oh plenty things, bus on and off goods, we went to see picture of d3 huge and wearing the d4 glasses. It was brilliant (it was raining day that we went there).

That was 6 years ago. We were top of Trade of World before it happen. That was February 2001. The weather was absolute freezing 6-, snowing on my special birthday :pgig:

We like to go back again, someday!!

I'm going next week, staying at New York Helmsley - not stayed here before. I was thinking of booking Affinia Manhattan which is beside Penn Station or Residence Inn Manhattan but I found a better deal for the Helmsley.

Flying with Continental too, have flown with them loads of times as there isn't a lot of choice from Edinburgh. They are fine, there aren't seatback TVs on the flights from Scotland but it might be different for you. The food is the usual standard aeroplane food, I just wish they didn't do curry for the vegetarian main meal on every flight. :confused2

WHAT NO SEAT BACK TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i flippin hope so, i was going to book the flights with VA but the times we wanted to fly it actually turned out to be a CA aircraft. i looked at their website and booked the same flights (which includes the VA air miles) for £80 cheaper. Better in my pocket than theirs

You might still be in luck for a seatback TV if you're not flying from Bristol or Scotland - check out the aircraft type that you're flying on on seatguru.com. :)
