Do any of you technically minded people know anything about sling boxes? I understand that you can use them to watch UK tv from anywhere in the world and as we are moving to Malta next week it could be quite useful.
Has anyone used one? If so could you please let me know how they work and if they are worth getting.
Thank you.

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back on to this subject. Moving a four bed detached house into a two bedroom apartment is harder than you think!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your good wishes and for the link. I think we may need to buy one of these. I do not think I will be able to go without watching UK tv!!!!!!!!!!

To use the slingbox it has to be connected to a UK TV so if you are moving abroad then you would not be able to watch UK TV as there is no home base. Unless you are still having a house here connected to UK TV.
We have one and it works great. When I was in Florida I was able to watch my Sky+ Box at home.

We are leaving DD here (in the two bed apartment) so we will link it up to her tv.
Toni I have read some reports that it is hard to set up, how difficult did you find it?

We found it quite easy but I have a tech head as a hubby to be. Just plugged it into the broadband router via ethernet and it goes between the sky box and the telly. Then you put an infra red transmitter above and below the IR receptor on the sky box.
The thing you will have to think about is if you change the channel using the sling box then you are changing the channel on her television as well so you are basically sharing the sky box.
It does need to be close to the router and the sky box (or NTL box if that is what she has).
