I've booked the Kennedy Space Centre admission badge tickets but want to know how long most people have there or how long you have stayed for?
Thanks.

We spent about 4 hours there last November, they still had building works going on for their simulator whilst we were there so quite a bit was shut off to the public.

first time round we caught a shuttle launch, we'd booked it specifically, so it seemed like 4 hours on the coach itself just getting out of KSC as it was that busy on launch night...

second time round we spent well over half a day there...depends on your interest in it all - the imax shows (which I think have been updated) were fascinating to me but might not be for everyone.

I've been to KSC twice. Both times spent around 6 hours there and still haven't seen everything. Go straight to the bus tour, do that first and get it behind you before you start touring around the imax/shop/rocket park area.

The bus tour alone will take a few hours as it has 3 different stops: Observation Deck 'near' launch pads, Saturn V area and International Space Station area. Of these the Saturn V is the most interesting, the size of that rocket is amazing.

We were there on Sunday and spent all day. We did the close-up tour and saw Discovery waiting on the launch pad (that took about 2 hours).
The Shuttle experience is fun - there was no queue so didn't take long and we saw one of the Imax films, had a wander round then went to the Astronaut Hall of Fame. There is a great simulator there which has you piloting a fighter jet plus some interesting exhibits.
We did spend a while in the gift shop and there were 10 of us to co-ordinate so a smaller group would probably do it all a lot faster. I hadn't been for several years and there was definitely a lot more to do than I remembered.

It's a few years since we've been but we spent all day. It really depends whether you want to see everything or just the highlights.

We go everytime and spend all day there , its best to go as early as possible , last time they checked our bags , my camera was flat and because it couldnt be turned on to check we had to return it to the car , so be warned.

There are to imax cinemas we have only managed to see the one film ( space shuttle) because they have cancelled the last showings or they are over subscribed at the end of the day , I would recommend that after the bus tour you go and do at least one of them , maybe leaving one til after you have looked round elsewhere?

And the food in KSC has to be the worse food we have had anywhere

Oh yes I agree - we ate at the moon cafe at the Saturn Center and it was inedible. Take your own food or survive on popcorn and sweets.

Our first visit was in Oct 2005 and we spent a full day there - after doing the Hall of Fame we just managed to get 10 mins in the police museum next door before it closed.
TBH - we really needed another half a day at least to take it all in but could not fit in another visit!

I would highly recommend the 'Lunch With An Astronaut' experience as the food and (free) drinks were great (its a help yourself hot & cold buffet with hot & cold drinks). The talk given by the astronaut (Winston Scott in our case)was very very interesting, and especially fun if you have kids as they tend to let them ask most of the questions..... and this tends to be very amusing in itself !
The astronaut giving the talk varies each month (you can look up who it will be on the KSC official website about 3-4 months in advance....just bear in mind that very few have ever been to the moon, let alone landed on it (12 in each case, and very few of these give talks at these sessions).
Very good value for money if you consider you are likely to have to eat at KSC anyway - the only downside is that it means you can 't really do the tour buses till after lunch...but the upside is that you can do the Imax shows in the morning, which tend to get very busy later on.

Don't miss the Tom Hanks Imax film - really good !!! :wavey:

We spent the entire day and would have gone back another day if we could have fitted it in !

TOP TIP: Its a really good place to go when other parks are busy such as at weekends, or bank holiday equiv., as it is so vast it swallows crowds really easily. :thumbs-up
