Gulf Coast Resorts In Cotober? Any Good?

We were thinking for our trip next year instead of spending the whole 14 nights in Orlando we would do 10 or 11 in the villa and then at the end of our trip go to the likes of St Petes Beach or Treasure Island, somewhere along that area. Just for something a bit different. We have never been to the coast in 4 visits.

We have pretty much decided on our villa now and have a quote for 10 days, but I don't want to go ahead and book until I am sure of what we are doing.

On looking for hotels etc in St Pete's Beach etc I have come upon a couple of reviews of people saying that there isn't much to do in October as it is out of season? I do notice the rates are cheaper at this time so did kind of wonder.

Me and DH are not huge beach lovers or sun bathers so we would not want to be spending ALL of our time on the beach and would want to have a drive around and see different sights and go maybe on a boat trip or something?

What do you think? Has anyone experieneced these places in October and what is your thoughts?

I am now thinking we should just stay at the villa for the 14 days and maybe just take a day trip to the coast?? Decissions Decissions :d:

We are just back form Anna Maria Island (14-27th October) and it was perfect. We only had one day of torrential rain and the rest of the time it was great beach weather. There is lots to do around that area.

Boat trips to watch dolphins
lovely restaurants
Tampa - great city to look around
Florida Aquarium
