ive got an acer, its a great laptop, was £3???(And sumthing), was its got lots of memory, i play the sims on it, am on the net all the time, and you can buy word, and excel ect for it if he needs it for school work, ive got loads of piccies on it too, and lots of songs for my ipod. i think its great, and a lot cheaper then the more well known names, with less memory. i wanted a sony, but i got half the memory for more the double the price.

Thanks Steph,
We have looked at some Acer's. It is the Sims he wants to play. A bloke in game, told me I needed to get a really good laptop to play games like the sims 2.

what you need is a core 2 duo tbh and a decent graphics card onboard with a decent bit of ram on it also 2gb ram min for vista

After having a nightmare of a laptop with Acer I opted for a toshiba as that seemed to be well respected by all the IT people I know and it seems essexmick. Mine was £495 from PCWorld and I love it. You deffo get a better spec with Acer as I shopped everywhere but after my last one I wanted something to last this time. My other choice was a gateway as ive had one them before also and that was in Tesco Extra with an excellent spec. Its a nightmare to know whats the right one i know, good luck
