Animal Kingdom Lodge or Grand Floridian?

Has anybody out there been to both? If so, we are booked for our second trip to the Animal Kingdom Lodge in 2008 and although I thought we were all agreed that was where we would stay, when i told DW that I had booked it, she didn't seem too impressed. :omg:
I wondered if changing my hotel (with Virgin) to the Grand Floridian at almost an extra £100 per night was worth it???
Any advice would be appreciated. We have our 18 year old son going with us too. :wave:

I've never stayed in either....but have went for a wander round both hotels...to be honest...I couldn't imagine your 18 yr old being very impressed with the Grand Floridian....it would be too florally for me...I'm sure someone who's stayed will have some advice for you...

Thanks Linda - yeah, you're probably right! Never thought too much about that (and that could save me a whole lot of money!!).
He was keen to go back to AKL and it is our last holiday together before he goes off to University.
PS. just noticed you are going soon. I wish we were too. Christmas in Disney is a fantastic experience.....have fun! :wavey: :spin: :spin: :wavey:

Not stayed at either but have looked round them a lot. Both are lovely but I'm not sure your 18 year old would like G F, although being near to MK is a big bonus. Have you looked at the Polynesian as an alternative?

have you stayed at the Polynesian yourself? Do you think that would be better than AKL (I know it is really just a matter of personal preference).
