Hello, have to say we went to Discovery Cove in 2005 and what a place, it was a fantastic experience and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. You are treated so well and the experience is unbelievable, we took our 7 yo DD and she was a little scared to start with when we went to swim with the dolphin, but the staff there were fantastic and eventually she had a great time. Well worth it :)

We done Discovery Cove in 2004 for DD birthday and it was wonderful they only let 1000 people in a day. We are thinking of doing it again next yer when we go at Christmas.

I know you can go down to Miami and swim with the Dolphins but have been to Epcot loads of times and am almost certain that you can't swim with them thier

We done discovery cove at easter in 2004, we loved everything about it your time in the lagoon with the dolphin is just the best feeling. the dvd and photo's were expensive but worth it they are great to look back on,(you don't have to buy them). :spin:

The Dolphins in Depth tour at Epcot is nothing like Discovery Cove - you get more time with the dolphin, there are less people there and more education if that is what you want, but then it's over.
Discovery Cove is an all day experience with the dolphin interaction (as there is very little 'swimming' tbh) lasting around half an hour only in a pool alongside other groups doing the same thing.
BUT there is so much more to do, snorkelling in the Coral Reef pool, the Ray pool, the freshwater lazy river around the park, the aviary etc. Not to mention that breakfast, lunch and unlimited drinks and snacks are included. It is a lovely day's respite from the crowds and busy-ness of the other theme parks.

I have also done a dolphin swim at the Dolphin Research Centre in the Keys which was the best of the lot, but it's a 6 hour drive away from Orlando!

We have done Discovery Cove and also the Theatre of the Sea at Islomarada down the Keys:

http://www.theaterofthesea.com/dolphin.swim.htm

I personally enjoyed the Theatre of the Sea more as the dolphins were not "made " to perform, if they did not want to "play" with you, they could go into a separate part of the pool and the instructors would not bother them. From a humane point of view, I felt this was much better. It was a longer one to one interaction too, and we loved it.

It was several years ago that we did this, as we have not visited Florida for 6 years.

how do u go about booking the swimming with dolphins at Epcot, ive never heard of that before.
i went to DC in 2001, and i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would. u dnt get a lota time with the dolphins, and not really swimming with them as such. the place was lovely tho, and u still get interaction with them. its a nice day out, but im not sure i would do it again

We did Discovery Cove this year, it's absolutely brill!! Yes the "dolphin experience" is only half an hour but as Sue says, it's the rest of the day that makes it all worth while. We're seriosly thinking about doing it again next year.

We've done DC twice, last year was on Halloween and they said that there was only about 350 people in the park, they allow a maximum of 1000, so if was lovely and quiet, people must have chose to be elsewhere on Halloween. This coming Easter my Sister mentioned doing DC again but just the non swim, as it only works out about £40 more than if you bought the 3 Park ticket for SW, BG and Aquatica.
£40, not bad for what you get, even without the dolphin swim, as it's only half an hour

We did DC on the 6th Oct & I can honestly say that 30 mins we got with the dolphin was the highlite of my holiday.

go to the keys ther dolphin interaction there is much more personall and cheaper. you get to go in the water with more than one dolphin and you will not be in a group. you get to play ball and play with hoops etc much more interactive than the experience we had at dc.

I totally agree with this!! If swimming with dolphins is special to you then going to the keys is well worth the travel!! I have recently been on a 2 day trip to the Keys with a dolphin swim and it was the best I have ever done including DC. I have done a little trippie if you would like me to send it to you.

im so glad someone agrees with me!!. last time i posted on here about our experience of dc i got shot down in flames!!
basically we did not really like it but im not going over it again. im sure the cost would not differ much to go to the keys to swim with doplhins rather than discovery cove.

The cost for the 2 day trip including a lot more than the dolphin swim and overnight accommodation cose the same as going to DC!!!
