Would love to go to an ALL American sporting occasionwhile on holiday prefer to watch baseball but is there a baseball team in or around Orlando?Help Please
There are two teams in Florida - the Florida Marlins who play in Miami and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays who play at Tropicana Field in St Petes.
The 2007 season is justing finishing up, with the World Series - Boston playing the Colorado Rockies.
It starts again next April till October
In Orlando you could watch the Orlando Magic basketball team at the moment

Such a shame that the Minor League based Orlando Rays stopped playing their games at Disney's Wide World of Sports. That was a great afternoon/evening out despite the level of play being significantly lower than Major League.
As others have stated Tampa Bay and Miami are your best bet for Baseball, but with Tampa being so much closer that would my choice.
We saw them play at Tropicana Field in 2005 and had a great time, slightly spoilt by an accident on the I4 back to Orlando which saw us take about 3hrs to get back after the game.
Basketball is good fun as well, we've seen the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards when we were in their respective cities.
It never amazes me to see just how much food and drink our US friends get through in the course of a match!!!

GO RED SOX!!!
We were in Boston in 2004 just after they won their first World Series since 1918(?) and the city was buzzing.
We did the Fenway Park tour and loved it. Sadly the chances of getting a ticket for a Red Sox game is about as easy as getting into the White House.

We've just started an indoor football league as well. It is what we call a minor league so I would compare that to your Championship league. They are called the Orlando Sharks (www.orlandosharks.com). We've not been to a match yet but hope to do so.
The Orlando Magic (http://www.nba.com/magic/) season is just starting and they are a great option for a professional sport. Tickets are very affordable and don't feel you need to buy the best ticket to enjoy it. I've been to countless games and have never been disappointed with a seat. Tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) and collected at Will Call.

Whereabouts is the venue?

For both the Sharks and the Magic the games are downtown at the Amway Arena. This is also where the Predators (starts nearer to February) play.
For parking I always suggest using the Marriott across the street. They offer valet (a bit more expensive but worth it for not having to hunt for your car in an unfamiliar environment) service. You could also get a taxi here.

We have been to 2 Minor League games over the past 2 years. Lakeland Tigers Vs Tampa Yankees at Lakelands Joker Marchant Stadium, and Tampa yankees Vs Clearwater Threshers at Legends Field Tampa, right next door to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers impressive stadium.
We love to spend some time doing something totally American. We also go to the short oval racetracks to see some stockcar racing.
Also what a coincidence. We too went to Tropicana Stadium in 2005 to see Tampa thrash the Yankees 11-4, beginning of May it was. On our way home there was also a huge smash on the I-4. It looked to be between the off and on ramps at one of the junctions. We were diverted off the I-4 and sent back up the on ramp. It did hold us up a bit though.
Wasnt the same night was it??
Stuart.
