New logo unveiled for Disney's Hollywood Studios

On Oct. 25, 2007, Walt Disney World Resort unveiled the new official logo the renamed theme park will take. The bright, new logo features a clapboard-holding Mickey Mouse. "Mickey still plays a prominent role for us," said Studios vice-president Michael O'Grattan, "and Hollywood now truly is our middle name."

Pretty impressive and up to date, however, I will always remeber it as MGM.

i think its a good idea to renovate once in a while, but changing the name is a bit silly. everyone will still call it mgm!

A lot of work is happening there at the moment, especially around the drew carey bit of abc studios and working the toy story edition!

I like it too.

My guess is that it will be referred to as "the Studios", which is what many WDW bus drivers seem to have called it in the past.

Wonder what would happen to all the merch that isn't sold with the old logo on .. you think it would lower or go higher in price as you might not be able to get stuff with it on anymore?

I believe it's because the deal to use the MGM brand is coming to an end, or at least that was the case a while ago. I think that they are still allowed to use the MGM films in the park (mostly in the Great Movie Ride), but they will no longer be allowed to use the name. Rumours of the change have been flying about for a ages now, and I think it's a good move. It's always been known as MGM Studios, which is not Disney, so re-branding it to Disney Hollywood Studios is a great idea. And using Mickey in the logo shows that they are not forgetting where their roots lie. :thumbs-up

Disney lost the licence for name MGM so I guess it was the only way they could it. Its only a name change, I still think it is the best WDW park, Rock n Roll coaster is worth the all the saving, argueing, planning, stress in going, stress in planning, stress in having screaming kids e.t.c. e.t.c e.tc

Looks good, although it will take time to get used to the name change. Looking forward to the new Toy Story attraction, this has always been one of our favourite parks.

Yeah I like the logo although to me it's still MGM. It seems easier to say, it's much shorter than Hollywood Studios. Why did they change the name?
