Am a bit wary about posting this having read how the last Mac thread went, but here goes.

Now firstly, I know I am going to come across as completely clueless but thats because I am when it comes to Mac's, and I am starting to regrewt getting a mac over windows as I really can't seem to get my head round it at all.

Anyway, I bought a macbook with 120Gb hard drive, 2.2Ghz core 2 duo 1Gb memory from USA in August.

Today I have bought Sims 2 for Mac, I have installed it and when I try to play I get an error message saying it needs at least 1Mb free space. Does this mean my mac is useless for games? I haven't really used it for anything other than internet access so its not as if I have installed lots of things on it.

Am feeling pretty rubbish about it TBH as I feel I've wasted a lot of money on a machine that won't do what I want it to.

Any help??? Failing that, anyone want to buy a macbook!!!

how are you trying to launch the game? If you installed it, are you going into the Finder | Applications and clicking that icon, or are you trying to launch it by clicking the Sims CD/DVD icon on the desktop?

If the latter, try the former as that should work. Let me know if it is still cause problems.

According to a program that came with the Sims2 game my mac does not meet requirements as my processor is intel and it says that 'playability has not been determined'!

Feeling rather fed up now as I feel I've spent a lot of money and the Sims is hardly a high powered game is it!!!!

this is what the support site says about that error:

This is due to the fact that the game is being launched from The Sims 2 DVD instead of the The Sims 2 application folder that should be installed to the hard drive. To install the game, double click on The Sims 2 DVD icon on the desktop, and then drag The Sims 2 folder onto your Macintosh hard drive icon. After the game has finished installing, click on the Macintosh hard drive icon to open it, open the Sims 2 game folder icon, and then double click on the Sims 2 application icon to launch the game.

Your Intel processor should be fine for running Sims2 - it runs on a G4 as far as I know which is a slower processor that the Core2Duo you have.
