Just found this about the DDE card. Mine has just expired and it will be much easier to renew it when we arrive in March instead of having to do it over the phone and wait for the card to arrive in the post. Here's the info:

New Disney Dining Experience Purchase Policy

Beginning on November 12, the Disney Dining Experience card can be purchased at a Disney Guest Service location. Annual Passholders and/or Florida Residents will need to provide proof of eligibility. Note that Disney Dining Experience membership requires that you be age 21 or older.

For those of you not familiar with the DDE card:

The Disney Dining Experience offers Florida Residents and Annual Passholders 20% off of all food and beverage purchases at the participating Disney Dining plan restaurants. It is a membership program with annual fees.

The Disney Dining Discount is not available on holidays including New Year’s Eve, Year Year’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Certain restrictions may be applicable. Participation is subject to change. To view Disney World Restaurant menus click here.

Great news, that should make the whole process much simpler, especially for those who'd rather wait and get their APs when they arrive too.

Just found some more info on this.

Two new restaurants added:

TUTTO ITALIA AND YAK & YETI

And also this:

NEW GRATUITY POLICY: Beginning on January 1, 2008, DDE will have 18% gratuity added to all transactions regardless of party size.

This is a bit worrying, as I was going to use the DDE card at POFQ Foodcourt, as I did last visit, surely they won't add the gratuity onto that?

From discussions on other boards ,this 18% is going to be added to all TS meals, not just those using DDE so this is a bigger change than at first appears

Thanks Scobie. So instead of us leaving a tip, they are automatically going to add 18% on, is that right?

Yes that's right Mazzy, I think it's a follow on from removing the gratuity from DDP and simplifying matters. It will be a lot easier for us as we usually leave 20%.

I started a thread here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=178902) about the new included gratuity.

Thanks Caron, just read your thread lol! So it's just table service then, it won't affect the foodcourt at POFQ?

I hope it's just at TS and not CS. :omg:

Me too Caron. If it's 18% on CS, it won't be worth us getting the card really. Hopefully we will find out before we go. :d:
