Did see a 20" bike in walmart for $34 but our luggage was already well over limit so didn't even try to get one home. Don't know how to do it though. Maybe a call to Virgin?

I think if it is flat packed and you are not over the limit with the number of cases you have, it shouldn't be a problem. I have read before of dibbers doing this without any problems.
ps. What a fantastic bike. No wonder you want to bring it home.
I just thought as my daughter wanted a bike for xmas this would have been ideal ..The same kind of bikes here would be about £80 i would imagine ..Dont we get ripped off something terrible !!
between us we will be allowed 10 cases and only going out with 3 so plenty luggage allowance ..Just wondered for size and would maybe get damaged ?? I know my ornament i brought back last time was in about 100 bits :(

Bikes are pretty tough. A friend of mine brought one back from the states last year. It was flat packed so he had no problems. It cost £1600!!! (He is a keen mountain biker). You just have to think how you will carry it home from the airport.
well supposed to be getting train from man to edin but can get my son to come collect the stuff he has a transit van ..So will have a chat with him :)

Good thread! My daughter wants a bike and there is only one shop here really that sells them and they are all about £150. Would be a great option to buy one in Florida :)

We also saw a lovely bike in Walmart this time which was about $88 and Olivia needs a new one. We thought about it but had no way of getting it home from the airport at this end - could hardly get all teh cases in!

My DBIL brought one home from Canada a number of years ago. He phoned the airline rep in Canada and asked if he would have any problems getting it on the plane. No problem at all.
I'd ring Virgin before you go and take any advice they can give you.

We've bought a bike back with virgin - it has to be boxed
we also got it from walmart you will have to get a box - simple enough the hard bit it fitting it into your car when you return - when we landed we got rid of the box and did it (only just squeezed it into the car)

Gulp! Did he declare it when he arrived back with tax free allowance only being £145 each?

That's what I was thinking :confused2 .
I would like to get a bike each for both of my kids next year, but it will only be worth it if the tax free allowance goes up.
Well the bike im looking at aint going to break the bank or the allowance ..its only £30 so not much :)
