View Full Version : Goth/skate clothing in orlando?
My DD is into the whole Gothic look at the moment, mad stripey tights, skull & cross bones T shirts, arm warmers, crosses, and anything made by Vans/criminal damadge/living dead souls etc
There is a briliant chain of ''alternative'' shops in the UK called Blue Banana where she gets most of her stuff from at the moment, does anyone know if there is something similar in Orlando?
p.s does anyone know when this craze will end? what I wouldnt give to see my baby girl all in pink again, all this black stuff held together by saftey pins and chains is driving me nuts! :pgig:
There was a shop in Festival bay that sells that type of gear,
Sorry I can't remember it's name
Hiya, the name of teh shop is Hot Topic and they have branches at festival Bay, Florida Mall and West Oaks (or something like that):) They sell loads of Goth/punk gear and accessories and once upon a time it's the only place we'd go for Becky!;) We even have our own discount card!
You'll be pleased to know she's now growing out of it and is unrecognisable from her Goth days (ask some of the 'old' time Dibbers on here!;)
Can't promise your dd will so all pink and fluffy again but she will grwo out of this stage just like all the others :):)
By the way Hot Topic is really friendly and has some great stuff!:)
Thanks Mandy that sounds perfect!

The vans shop in Festival is great, spent loadsa time in there this yr ...think DS preferred it to Disney.... :omg: ;)
My DD is going through her 'Gothie' stage at the moment and is desperately saving every penny to spend in Hot Topic! My cute, glittery little girl has suddenly turned into a stripey legged, mascara wearing tweenager who's obsessed with all things black and she's only just turned 11! :omg:

OMG! Thats exactly what Im going through with Beth at the moment and she is only 11 too! Purple and black strippey tights, big boots, death kitty black hoodies, strippey arm warmers with skulls on complete with lashings of black eyeliner and the black lipstick we got for her little sister to wear on Halloween :pgig: I have drawn the line at letting her dye her hair black though!
She was kicking up a stink about not wanting be dragged round shops on our next trip because she wouldnt be able to find anything she liked, wait till I show her the hot topic web site, bet she changes her mind pretty damn fast :pgig:
WOW Mandy your DD doesnt look like the same person!!! amazing!
Has anyone ever watched NCIS? The lab tech in that programme called Abbey is my DD's hero at the moment, she isnt allowed to watch the actual show but she does ask me to pause the dvd when Abbey comes on so she can see what she is wearing!
Slightly off topic (sorry) but just had to say love your signature CBR600, Withnail and I...absolutley brilliant!!!
And Angel..love your dd's boots! I still have my pair..though my black and blood hair is no more. Though you never know, when I get restless and bored I take it out on my hair!

Hi,
My son is a Rocker and has been since he was around 13. He is now 17. He has shopped in loads of shops, he cant remember all of them but says PacSun and Sawdust at Orlando Premium outlets have some wicked stuff! Vans at Festival Bay is fairly good, he always gets his studded belts from there and has had piercings done in Festival Bay cant remember the name of the shop, sorry. His earlobe piercings are stretched to 12cm on each ear and has lip, nipple and other piercings all over his body. He is a natural blonde and has been through the black hair stage. He is lead guitarist in a band called Something to Sacrifice!!! and they play everything from Black Sabbath to Trivium. Quite an eye opener these concerts. What I will say is he has always been a polite lad and this didnt change when he became alternative. His mates are all the same and they really are a great group of kids. Around this area the kids that cause the most trouble are the gangs of hoody types, not the ones that look like the walking dead, lol!!!
Hope your daughter finds lots of things she likes.
I'm absolutely with you on this Debbie....Becky may like the devil's spawn at one time but I'd rather she was that than dressed in a tiny mini skirt hanged round with lads etc;)
By the way, she also has her ears pierced and stretched and has at one time or another had, eyebrow, lip, labrette and septum pierced.
Pacsun, vans shop and others all ahve good stuff, but has to be Hot Topic as fave for us!;) lol

Angel,
Jack always gets weird looks from some people, but he is what he is and wont change for no-one. Jack wants a tattoo now, and im sure he will get one :confused2 He gets my support whatever he wants to do.

Debbie and Angel, i totally agree with you both!
I'd rather DD dress like that than be a Label Queen like some of the girls in her class!
It's ridiculous the way they're obsessed with only wearing designer labels! These kids are only 10 and 11 years old, but the parents think nothing of spending £70 on a pair of jeans that won't fit them in a couple of months time!!! :omg:
I think it shows her creativity and proves she's not just following the herd like a lot of them are!

Same here ,mine calls herself an Emo!!
she cant wait to hit Hot Topic and has been drooloing over the website for months.
Like Veronica I am proud of her Individuality as she comes in for a lot of stick at school from the Chavs ,Sorry if I offend anyone by using the term Chav ,But this is the name they call themselves at my daughters school and they are the ones who give her and her friends a hard time .
She is a very strong character and I expect most of the kids who are Goths ,Emoc ,etc would have to be ,
My daughter is 13,another one age 11 is on the turn now and will be costing me an arm and a leg in eyeliner before the year is out LOL

Wouldnt it be great if all of us families which include Goths, emos, punk rockers etc could all be going to Orlando at the same time. That would be a great meet!! Im sure the Americans would give us some funny looks  We could let them go into hot Topic together!!
I totally agree about the individuality thing. It takes some bravery and character to walk through a gang of hoodys when you have piercings over your face, dressed all in black with hair to match :cool2:

I am so glad I asked this question, its been fab reading all the posts and knowing other parents are going through the same thing, DH at first was totally dead against her wearing these sort of clothes, but when I pointed out that I would rather her go with the Gothie look than some of the horrendous pole dancing type of clothes that you see kids in he soon shut up about it, and your right about the ''label queens'' there is a ''fashion crowd'' in Beth's class at the moment, and they can be very bitchy and cliquey, if you dont wear the right clothes your not ''in'' Im so glad Beth has found her own path and has the confidence to walk past all those girls in their Burberry and be proud of who and what she is, mad strippey tights and all ;)

Your daughter must go to the same school as mine!!
I agree with what you are saying my eldest DD is nearly 15 and has been the same way since 11 - I am very proud of her she is very bright and hard-working. I can't tell you some of the names she gets called at school, although she turns the other cheek most of the time.
At least they're individuals and not part of the herd mentality!!

Florida Mall has a shop called Adrenalina, which has its own indoor surf Pool!
I bought loads of Vans and Hurley gear whilst I was there, quite reasonable for the price
