we are going back to Disney next christmas..but this time we are bringing disney virgins with us, namely members of Chris's family. soooo i have two questions...

a family meal..looking for something moderate but nice. the youngest will be 17 so no kids with us, there will be probably be 5 but maybe 8 of us in total. so what you would your reccomendations be..one disney restaurant and one non disney restaurant?

and then, more importantly he he, a meal for just me and Chris. we didn't go anywhere really special last time. we love tgi's etc but i would love if we could plan to eat somewhere nice but not too fancy or stuffy. soooo disney restaurant or non disney restaurant it doesn'y matter..any suggestions or advise would be great :flowerfac

tis a long way aways but i just love planning and gathering little ideas!

For the atmosphere, menu, quality and portion size it is really difficult to beat a Cheesecake Factory - one at Mall at Millennia. They look good for large parties too, though I've no personal experience of a party larger than two.

For a nice meal for two - Wolfgang Pucks at DTD

For a lovely meal for just the two of you - why not try Tchoup Chop at the Royal Pacific Resort?
It is plush, but REALLY not stuffy, you can dress up (but not OTT) - the food, service and ambience is fantastic. It is classed as expensive but with the present dollar exchange rate an absolute bargain. We had the BEST meal in all our 3 weeks there - compared to Disney it was also great value - you can see the menu HERE (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1475797&postcount=1)

You can also see my report of it HERE (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=1233366#post1233366)

Tchoup Chop is top of our list of places to try - we're staying at the RPR in December.

I cannot recommend it enough David - don't be fazed by the THREE servers per table (and they take your wine away to keep it at ideal temperature, topping it up magically when you are distracted by the food lol) - they are attentive but never "in your face" :thumbs-up

I just had a look at your Tchoup Chop report too - it looks really nice. I'll warn my wife about the strong tastes.

Fish bones on Sandlake which is off I Drive was out best restaurant. It was superb, my steak was fantastic and the size of the crab claws was unbelievable and it was so tasty. What i had wasnt on the menu but they will do you a mix of anything you want, the service was great and they did a great Marlbourough wine.

For something a little different try Cafe Tu Tu Tango on I-Drive. Good food, nice atmosphere and flamenco dancers. They have a tapas style menus so each diner can order 2 or 3 dishes which can then be pooled and shared amongst everyone. It's a must for us each time we visit.

If Oriental is to your taste then head down to Thai Thani where the food is superb. A little off the main tourist trail it is generally not overly busy. Another must visit restaurant for us.

My fiance loved Mama Melrose at MGM, we ate there as part of the Fantasmic deal. She still says it's the best meal she's ever had, and she can be fairly critical of restaurants. It's not a fancy place but the food and service was fantastic, and bundled with the priority seating at Fantasmic it's a must (well for us anyway :d:).

Bahama Breeze or Olive Garden, our 2 fav restuarants in the whole of Fl, both on IDrive, just across the road from each other, near wonder works.

We tried Raglan Road in DTD this year, was a bit wary after reading some reviews, but we had fantastic service and fabulous food. One of the best meals of this years trip.

We didn't see any entertainment to be honest as we went for lunch. The server was brilliant she kept our drinks topped up and chatted to us. The kids started off with cocktail sausages in beer batter, they brought out 2 trays with 8 forks stood up with a sausage on each and then a small bowl full of sausage as well each with a sauce to sip the bangers into! Me and DH had wings of fire to start with which were actually chicken drumsticks in a yummy sauce with onion rings when I say onion rings there was a mountain of them! The starter was enough for a main meal. Juju had calamari that came in 2 cones totally full, her DH Eammon had oysters which again were served on forks stood up on trays. Then came the main meal. My ds had chicken sandwich which came with the chunkiest chips served in a small bucket! Cullen had shepherds pie, Eamonn had stew that was served in a small cauldron, had a steak sandwich with the enourmous chips, both Juju and my DH had steak I believe. Then they asked us what we wanted for dessert. Well most of us didn't have anything, the boys had ice cream and one of us had a piece of the best tasting cake (which I can't for the life of me remember what it was!) All in all we had a fantastic meal here, we met up with some other friends whilst there on holiday told them what a great meal we had so they tried it and went back twice more!
