:wavey: Hi all :wavey:
Next trip is booked for 3 weeks next aug/sept.
We have always(7 times)stayed on site however due to a cracking deal through First Choice we have booked to stay at Emerald Island Villas.

I have a few questions that i hope someone can answer.

1.. Where do we collect our keys for villa?
2..How do we go on regarding refuse collections?
3..Do we have to put money in the washer/dryer to use?
4..What supermarkets are there around?

5..What is the area like for restaurants, shopping etc?
6..How does the security bond work and who will take it from us?
Any help will be appreciated.

Just a few vague answers from me as a starter:

Have a look at Emerald Island on the Dibb villa map as it shows you your nearest Publix & Walmart although there are several other smaller stores in Formosa Gardens Boulevard which is where you'll find a host of restaurants too.

http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map.php

I've never done a package trip for a villa but I think you are likely to pick your keys up from the management company along with maps etc and they'll take your security bond details etc.

Garbage is collected on certain days for each community and full details will be supplied by the management company or a brochure at the villa etc.

If it's a villa with washer/dryer then it's F.O.C although you don't get supplied with detergent etc.

Not concrete answers but a start :o:

Hi Gary and Elise,

(1) A few management companies will "Meet and Greet" you at the villa with they key (ours do but not many do), others will leave the key in a lock box at the house and you pick up the details of the lock box code from the tour op rep at the airport, others will ask you to detour to their offcies to pick up the key before you go to the villa.

(2) Refuse collection varies according to which developent you are on but the details should be given to you in a pack by the management company or given in the guest information book which most villas have

(3) Washing machimes are normal machines, they are not coin operated - remember most vacation homes are likely to belong to private owners who use the house themselves.

(4 and 5) Loads of supermarkets and restaurants around this development

(6) Management company will take the bond (if they do not meet you at the house, they will ask you to call at their offices within 24 hours of arrival). Bond is either a one off non-refundable payment that pays the premium on an insurance policy (probably about $50). Alternatively it could be an amount taken by credit card and is in efffect a bond of a varying amount that is re-paid assuming the house is in good order when you leave. This also includes making sure that the utility bills are not excessive during your stay. So be careful, do not leave the doors open and 'air condition' half of Florida at the owners expense, you will run up massive, above avergae biils for the owner and you will be expected to pay for them.

If no problems, the bond will be returned usually anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks of your departure.

Hope this helps.

Emerald Island is a great resort - but I would say that!

You are a couple of minutes from a winn dixie and a walgreens and about 6 or 7 minutes from a publix. There is also a sundries shop in the clubhouse for anything you run out of/forget.

There are loads of restaurant just a few minutes away - tgis, red lobster, cracker barrel, key w kools, mcdonalds, sizzler, the list goes on.

Have fun planning your holiday, you'll have a great time
