Thats it really, I would love to take my lovely girlfriend to GF since its our favourite kind of place (New England style) and have seen they do tea and cakes. We are staying on site so could change if necessary but what is the dress code?

hi, do you mean the afternoon tea? we went in september and had afternoon tea, we were wearing our grand gathering t shirts and shorts, smartish shorts, not ripped or anything , and we were fine.
think long as you are smart casual that would be ok.
and the tea, scones and cakes a very nice too. :)

Thanks Dave, sounds great. Did think about dinner there but it all seems a bit posh for us though I will be taking her for a posh meal at least one night.
Is afternoon tea the one served with champagne or am I thinking something else?

yep, you can get champayne too, needless to say we sampled a glass of that too. i ended up wearing a crown, as our server decided that my DW and SIL were princesses then i must be the king...great fun.
if you fancy a nice meal there, try nassooccee's, that was really nice, but not over posh. we looked at some of the others , there was one where the course's went into double figures, i'm sure its really nice, but we decided we would end up giggling so we settled on nassooccee's, if you time it right you can watch wishes across the lagoon.

Afternoon tea is wonderful there. Sometimes you'll get the women from the (red hat?) society, not sure if that is the correct term. But most people aren't dressed up at all.

red hat, as in, "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go"
I love that poem!

People dress up, people dress down. Whatever you feel comfortable in from traditional park gear, right through to traditional Victorian gear as I saw last time we were there - a lovely American couple all dressed up their their period costumes, enjoying tea - really nice to see, so from that, you can never be too posh!!
