Hi - I'm thinking of buying a cricut machine whilst on holiday - can anyone tell me how I go about powering it? Do you just use a US to UK travel adapter or will I need to buy a new cable for it?

Many thanks

:confused2 what is a cricut machine?
If it runs on mains power you may need a voltage converter whatsit unless it can run on 240V which is what we have in the UK.

It's a crafting device, looks like a printer but cuts letters, words and shapes out of paper and card - very cool but pretty expensive. They're about twice the price here than they are in the US...

Hi

It is actually dual voltage. The machine is actually supplier with an american and english power cable. I bought one from the usa. It is fab.

I think they currently have them on sale at AC Moore on Colonial Drive.

Looks like we will both be out at the same time - are you a scrapbooker? Are you a member of ukscrappers?

There is currently a thread running on uk scrappers about craft shopping in orlando and where to go for the best deals.

That's great - thanks Becky! I'm more of a cardie than a scrapper. I bought a beautiful leather bound scrap book from WDW last year with every intention of filling it with photos and mementos from our holiday with my parents but never actually got round to it. I SWEAR I'm gonna do one this year (and I hope to make a start on last year's one!) My DD will be starting nursery in the new year so I may be able to grab a little more time here and there to sit down and do some!

I saw that thread on craft shopping in Orlando - I nearly wet myself when I saw all the shops in the area!!! My DH isn't going to be happy... ho-hum ;) He said he was going to take me to Micheals but it looks like AC Moore's is cheaper... and then there's Mouse Memories, which is only half a mile away from our condo... oh so many craft shops, so little time... so much baggage allowance, so little money!

Mine didn't come with a UK Power cable, but I use one that came with something else, and just put it into the black box which is halfway along the power cable. It works fine.
I got mine from ACMoore online when they were on special offer, I don't know what their current price is though.

The actual cartridges were $50 in Michaels - £25!!! What a steal.

Also - sign up for the emailed coupons from Joanns and Hobby Lobby, all the craft stores take each others coupons, so I went out with a pursefull of Joann's coupons and mainly used them in Michaels.
