View Full Version : How long for Universal and IOA for DS 8 and DD2??
:wavey: OK,
I know its late but i'm thinking of now planning as I am going on thursday!!!
Anyway wanted to know how long you think I'll need for Universal and IOA with DS aged 8 and DD age 2 and me going alone as a single parent!!
We have never done universal before so want to see also the macys parade also but DS wont be big enough to go on all the rides like duelling dragons. SO how long do you think I will need - do you think it could be done in a day?? OR am i pushing it??
Got shopping to do you know!! :d:

we are planning on us and ioa in 1 day. we have dd3 and dd8weeks. dh likes some rides but would prefer more disney and shopping time! i cant do rides cos still recovering from c section !!
so we should be ok with 1 day to catch the parade.

we managed to do both parks in the one day, however it was just the 2 of us and we bought the fastpasses to allow you to get to the front of the q's. I must admit it was tiring and a long day but really enjoyable. If it were me in your situation I would plan for 2 days and if you get it done in 1 then its a bonus. Enjoy!!

Sorry, but I would say a min of a day at each. IOA is huge and has loads of kiddie bits n bobs. Defo parks not to be missed! :wavey:

i agree one day will not be enough ,we did not think our sons would like these parks that much so only planned to go there for a day but it ended up thier favourite parks. we spent at least 2/3 days there there are lots of hidden bits as well.
my family and i dd 18 months, ds 5 (but very tall and loves the rides) we managed to do it all in one day,it was a long day and we were shattered after it so were planning on doing a day and a half next year

I'd say 2 days as well...we had both DDs with us (5 and 2 at the time) and even though they couldn't do everything it could still be slow going getting around sometimes...we also caught the Macy's parade which was showing for the first time at Universal last year!

I didn't find it had much at all. Suess Landing is excellent and good for an hour or two but then all my 4 year old rode after that was the Unicorn coaster. The 9 year old also did the Bildge Barge rafts , and they both did the teacups ride. That was pretty much it, and we did try hard to find things for them.
Universal, we did Barney, Woody's Coaster, the animal show, Jaws and Shrek - but they didnt like Shrek and weren't sure about Jaws.
We spent about 4 hours in each park, we did one each day but we could have done one in the morning and one in the afternoon quite easily. I can't see us going back until we have kids that want to do big coasters.

We aren't big Universal fans - budgetted one day per park, plus a spare day to do whichever we liked better. Ended up leaving both pretty early and using the spare day for more Disney.
Next time we are going to do both in a (long) day, but get the FOTL passes, so we can fit it in, and do a Hard Rock Cafe lunch along the way. (And yes, I know about the FOTL passes if you stay at one of their hotels, but with the hassle factor of getting there, checking in and getting back to whereever we will be after that we've decided that's not going to fly - we don't take a car when we are over so it would be taxis etc.)
It's really hard to know in advance whether your family will like the Universal stuff till you try it, I think. I fully expected us to take 2 full days in IoA, and we were rather disappointed with it to be honest.
