hi guys,
need some advice!!! I'm off to Florida in about ten days and i know my husband fancies going to a water park. I am a rather large lady and buying a swimsuit has been funny ;) I also can't swim! (i know not a good advert for a water park!!). I was wondering how deep the water was and would i have a problem :confused2
Really fancy giving it a go though. Any advice?

if u go to places like typhoon lagoon, and bb, then they have lazy rivers, that u wuld easily be able to stand up in. they also both hav main pools, n in the shallow end wuld be fine. if u als go on the rides, the water bit at the end is usually depth of what u can stand up in its wrth goin, i love goin to the water parks, gives u a bit of a rest too

You'll be fine, you definately won't be the largest there!

At the water parks I tend to wear an old t-shirt over my costume which hides my lumps & bumps & also protects the shoulders from the heat.

Water parks have lots of sunbeds & are an ideal place to lay in the sun & read if you get fed up of the water.

You must go they are brilliant. Some of the pools that you drop into from some of the bigger shoots will be out of your depth but there are plenty other things to do as some of the other replies say. Many people wear T shirts when walking around but take them off when they go on some of the shoots.

One of my funniest memories is getting stuck with my friends on one of the group rides and having to be rescued.

They are also fantastic places to sit in the sun or shade with your book to chill out.

Definitley go, my girlfriend is body concious (don't know why, shes lovely!) and is a very weak swimmer, however she loved the Typhoon Lagoon park with the waves because it was a safe more fun version of the seaside. As for being a larger lady, the US is larger in every way!

You must go, the water parks are a fantastic experience!

You will have a great time!!! I am also a very curvy girl and felt very happy and confident strolling around the water parks - there are all sizes and shaped there and nobody bats an eyelid!! :)

I personally found BB the best as I wasnt keen on the HUGE surf waves that are often racing towards you in the pool part of TL, BB has a very shallow pool area with gently bobbing water and its so relaxing and lovely - get there early and grab a sunlounger close to the water (nicer than walking through loads of people if you are body-concious) and then relax and read a book, and just stroll into the water when you need to cool off - I do this while my fiance races around all the rides xxx

Check out the depth of the pool where the ride ends - a lot of times you will be able to stand - that way you might be able to ride some of the slides with your BF. Or check out the people as they come out to see how deep it is - I can't remember not being able to stand on any of the rides we went on.

Don't worry about your size, you can have a great time. I think Typhoon Lagoon is undergoing refurbishment at the moment - so check when you get there. Blizzard Beach will be open.

My mum came with us to TL last year and she is a very curvy lady. She was dreading going as she also can't swim and she thought she was just going to be sat on a deck chair trying to stay covered up while we all went on the rides and swam.

In the end if you ask her now she would say this was one of her favourite days. She went in the pool by Crush and Gusher as this doesn't get any deeper than mid thigh. And as the Americans tend to be larger than life she felt really un selfconcious about walking round in just her bather. She said the fact that no one was waliking round posing she realised she had nothing to worry about.

Hope you enjoy you day at the water park.

.

Now there's a nice simple idea I had just never thought of :thumb: I haven't been to any of the water parks yet but will be going next July. A t-shirt will kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak :pgig: hide the bumps and protect the skin, excellent! I'll be there with my thin as a whip sister in law, so this will help keep me less self conscious. Ta!

I have a Sarong for when I am walking round, you just have to bear in mind that a tee shirt might be better as sometimes they won't let you on a slide if you are carrying something i.e a sarong, at least if you are wearing a teeshirt then you can keep it on.
