I am wanting to book a surprise trip for me and DH to NYC for next late Nov early Dec, I have heard you can get good priced deals for this time.

Can anyone recommend either a tour op/flight company I can try.....and am I better booking in advance or waiting????

I would say to you to sign up to the various websites/travel sites that offer flights/packages to NYC, and also the individual airlines websites and wait for them to email with their special offers, there often have them and then you can compare the deals.

Maybe not the cheapest time as late November will be Thanksgiving / Black Friday, and early December runs up to well.......Christmas holiday shopping season.
You may be lucky if you book in advance, less likely but not impossible to drop on a bargain last minute.
Early January through late February is generally cheapest, one reason being the freezing weather unless you are lucky. Why not visit during summer instead ?
If it has to be winter - focus on first two weeks of December and try everybody for a cheapish package or maybe book flights and hotels separately. There isn't really a definitive cheapest for visiting New York.
This year our cheapest offer was booking flights and hotel as a package in our local Thomas Cook, flying with Delta, staying at Millenium Hilton, using the AirTrain / subway to and from JFK.

When we travelled to New York in December a few years back we booked it through Bon Voyage and they came up with a very good deal.

Winter (especially Christmas ) is one of the most expensive times to go. From Thanksgiving until New Year, prices (especially hotels) are heavily inflated. You can easily get cheap flights - especially for the first couple of weeks in Dec, but prepare to pay A LOT for hotels at this time. Its also cold, VERY cold!!!

We did end of Aug and it was very HOT!! I left booking my hotel till 48 hours before and got a £300 a night room for £150 a night. You can book direct with the hotels as well, which can save a bit. Choose carefully and try to go by recommendations as there are many rubbish ones which still charge a fortune!

book your hotel very quick. I paid $600 for a single night in a decent hotel in Manhattan last weekend because it was last minute and everywhere was seriously expensive.
