Late Sept holiday

Any ideas for a late Septmber holiday? Would like to go for 7-10 days somewhere warm with beautiful scenery and a few things to see. Thinking a greek island or maybe Italy?

If it's Italy, I'd fly into Rome. Stay in the city for 2-3 days to see the sights, then take a train to Naples, then the local rail transvesuviana to Sorrento for a week. The train journey takes about 2hrs, relatively cheap.

We did this, over a more extended period, in the Summer. From Sorrento you can do Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Positano etc, by rail or ferry. Beautiful coast, lovely scenery, enough history to impress anyone! There are some fabulous restaurants in Sorrento for evening meals.
