Hi everyone
I'm considering booking a 2n night stay in Edinburgh, 16-18 Feb 08 for my birthday :pgig:
Trying to look at the cheapest way to do it - flights come in at around £138 for the two of us, which isn't too bad.....trying to find it cheaper on the train but not having much luck...
Need to find a cheap hotel, does anyone have any recommendations?????
Thanks
Sam :D

I've stayed a couple of times at Fountain Court Apartments. I only live just outside Edinburgh, but have stayed there over Xmas twice just to save me having to get a taxi home!
They have 1 bedroom, bathroom (fab shower), kitchen (with dishwasher, washer/drier) with everything you need, living area with cable TV. A breakfast pack is included which will last you two mornings.
They are on Morrison Street, a 5-10 minute walk from the city centre. They also have 2 bedroom apartments on Grove Street, which is the street opposite.
I think this place is a good option in comparision to hotel prices, City centre, it's spotless and more room than staying in a hotel. Check out www.fountaincourtapartments.com.
If you got the train to Haymarket Station, you would only have a 5-10minute walk to the apartments. Waverley Station is just the other end of Princes Street and would only take a few minutes in a taxi. Alternatively, Edinburgh Airport isnt far. You could go by taxi or by catching the No 100 bus from outside the terminal.
Hope this helps. Edinburgh has a very good bus network so can get around pretty easily if you find somewhere else not so near the city centre.

Hi
I've stayed in the Glenora in Edinburgh http://www.glenorahotel.co.uk/ its right beside Haymarket train station and a short walk to Princes Street. I think it was around £80 B&B, fab organic breakfast and very comfortable room.
I've also stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at the top of Princes Street which was ok and well placed for shops etc There is also a cinema complex with bars and restaurants nearby.

Thanks Fiona, really like the look of the morrisons apartments - seem very reasonably priced when compared to the hotels so that's definitely something to consider. Thanks Lesley too, I'll take a look at the glenora now x

Hiya, we are off the Edinburgh in Jan to watch James Blunt and we are staying at The Ten Hill Place, looks really nice and we managed to get 2 nights for £150 with Last min.com. Direct with the hotel it was £150 per night.
Its our first time to Edinburgh, looking forward to it.
Ten Hill Place looks good, and it's in a handy location too. It's near the University so there are loads of bars in the area. :) And it's handy for the Old Town and Princes St - handier than staying in Morrison St I'd say.

Thanks Nic :thumbs-up , thats fab, we didnt have a clue when booking but did a little research on Trip adv and stuff and it seemed a good hotel to stay. Thanks :thumbs-up
One of the great things about Edinburgh is that the centre is pretty compact e.g. from Morrison St to Hill Place is about a 20 min walk if you know the shortcuts lol. ;)

Just checked this out of curiosity and they are offering theatre breaks to see High School Musical in February. Unfortunately for us it's the week after our half term so we won't be able to go :(
Lovely looking apartments though so might just go for a visit anyway

I've managed to find what I think is a very good deal...flights with flybe, Man - Edinburgh, leave 8:45 on 16th, then come back 18:30 on 18th = £122.46 for us both.
Hotel wise, came across the Frederick House Hotel which seems to have good reviews, fab location...with some searching managed to find it at the lowest rate of £124.00 for 2 night for us both with hoteltravel.com (was £154 on superbreaks!), which inc breakfast.
So all in all, would be £246 for us both for 2 nights, breakfast & flights, I think that's really good!!!!
