I was wondering if anyone has seen security patrolling the grounds of the Disney Hotels?
The reason for this question:
If DD and I go to WDW by ourselves we will be staying at a Disney Hotel because they just seem more secure than staying off site. However, my DGM is worried that we would be alone in a hotel with no man to protect us. :pgig: So I would like to set her mind at ease by letting her know that the hotels have security but don't want to lie to her. So I plan on staying at whatever hotel has security just to set DGM's mind at ease.

You have to go past a security guard to enter any of the hotels. I can't say I've seen them walking around but the guard at the entrance should serve to reassure her (although if I am honest, anyone could walk in)

Like already said you have to go throuth the security gate to get to the hotel, when we had a lot of kids one night running around knocking on doors security was there in a flash. I always feel very safe staying in the disney hotels.

they do have security at off site hotels, we were impressed that the budget quality inn maingate west had patrolling security all night also country inns and suites at lbv had a patrolling security women,by golly you wouldn'thave tangled with her. but to answer your question yes they do have security not sure if they patroll or not though.
which resort are you thinkning of? I always feel safer in hotels with inside corridors, so the room doors open onto an internal corridor rather than straight outside.

The cheaper disney hotels open to outside corridors, but i have never felt remotely unsafe at any disney hotel.

my first trip was with my sister and her son as well as my DD. My second trip will be also in Aug. I am already planning my third but it will be just me and DD who will be 6. I would stay onsite (as I did first trip) in a hotel with inside corridors - All Star Movies was great but I wouldnt want to walk back there to my room at 10pm.
We felt really safe in our women only party but with only 1 adult I would stay at an onsite moderate with room service if poss as you can just ring for drinks etc instead of dragging DD out if she is asleep or tired.

The moderates don't have inside corridors or room service, but they do have fridges where you could keep some drinks.
I honestly would have no concerns about walking back alone through a moderate at 10pm - it wouldn't even cross my mind at all.
for interior corridors your cheapest options are Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

They all have a pizza service, and there are drink machines on every floor.
When we stayed at the Yacht Club we saw the security guards patrolling the whole area around the YC, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin all the time.
They were on foot and in vehicles.
We could see them from our balcony and even had to call them via our room telephone once as there was guy clearly drunk in charge of a Surrey bike!! He was weaving all over the place and nearly crashing into pedestrians and the benches by the footpath. The security guards were with him within a minute of our call.

We were 2 women on our own and we felt really safe. We were wandering around after midnight without giving it a second thought. Security at Pop was really good when going in and out. They also had little vans running around.

we stayed at coronado springs last year and port orleans riverside this year, security was good at both, security on the gates, and saw security vehicles at both. felt safer staying onsite.
Dont worry there are plenty of roving patrols at the AS resorts who are either on foot or mobile in Golf buggies - There are also plenty of Cast members who work throughout the night at each reception - Regardless of what time of night you phone reception staff, the phone is always answered immediately - on-site is a really 'feel safe' place to stay..

I definitely wanted to stay at a moderate hotel. POR or AKL.

I think that no matter where you are staying you need to keep your wits about you and just be aware of whats going on around you and try not to advertise the fact you are on your own and dont do anything that makes you feel unsafe or anything that you wouldn't do at home.
