Help Touch Pad on Lap Top, My Cursour Won't keep Still

OK
Santa brought me a new Lap Top for Christmas
But the Touch Pad is driving me nuts
It's if my cursor it has a mind of it's own :grin:
I Can be typing away and i've only look away or breath wrong, and my cursor has moved somewhere else or i'm submitting buttons or entering stuff i didn't want.
I've used DS old lap top for ages before I had this new one so was use to being mouse less
but this new touch pad has a mind of its own
Can it be adjusted some where ? before it gets me in to trouble typing :blush:

Silly question perhaps, but wher you typing you aren't acciently touching it are you?
You can get the cursor to jump around by pressing the touch, then pressing a second finger somewhere else on the touch pad, then lifting the first finger off. Kinda like stepping around the touch pad.
If you are pressing it accidentaly, this will have the effect of the cursor moving around.
Other than that, nothing obvious springs to mind.

buy a mini mouse, but then again the touch pad is still active like my laptop so im not sure,, maybe it has a sensitivity switch?
