The DVD bit doesn`t seem to be working!

Hello, Happy New Year to you all.

Not watched a DVD on desktop for a couple of months, needed to watch something earlier so put DVD in - it took ages to get on screen then it just froze at place I had watched it up to last time. I tried again - same thing. Then I shut down computer etc and tried again, this time with different DVD and got nothing.
Turned it all off again and then got message Powerlink DVD encountered problem needs to close (I`m assuming that this is the bit that lets me watch it!! but not sure

Please can anyone help?? xx

I'm no expert, but what about leaving the DVD in place, closing the application that's trying to read it and then trying to watch it using something like Windows Media Player?

Alternatively, have you tried seeing whether putting in a different DVD encounters the same problem?

Thanks Mickiengland, didn`t even know I could use Windows Media Player for watching DVD`s, thought it was only for ``playing tunes``!!

Have tried a couple of different DVD`s and still same problem so think the programme must be knackered!!

I`ve learnt something today so thanks again.
