Going for 2 weeks on 21st June. Its been about 5 years since our last visit. Do we need to plan? DH says no. I disagree. We are staying at a villa in Cumbrian Lakes. We have booked 14 day disney tickets. Kids are 9 and 7 and will probably need a lot of rest with the heat. DH is taking an empty suitcase and wants to hit the shops on 22nd. Anyone any ideas about how we should plan the rest?

I have never manged to stick to one, so we just do what we want on the day.

First time we went never did one, since have and think it works better for us.

Luckily usually manage 3 weeks, so have alternate rest/shopping days from the parks.

Do not stick to the plan religiously, however use it as a guide to keep us on track to do everything we planned to do.

we didn't do one first time we went, but have done a rough one most times since. normally we work it round any adr's we have booked.

don't always stick to it, but usually have things planned a couple of days in advance. found it worked better for us, especially when there as a family.

We always do one although we dont stck to it religeously it gives us a guide so we dont miss anything. When we went on our own we never used one but with kids we need to plan in rest days. Also we add in our ADRs and showtime so that we dont forget.at the end of the day its about what suits the individual ,you have already got different opinions on the thread, so you need to work out whats best for you.You could always write one and stick it in your case and if you dont use it you havent lost anything

Also its a good idea to add in the early Magic hours if you are going to use them or the parade and firework days as some days they dont happen

Our first visit was with a couple who had been before and I must admit I openly took the mick out of them for having a schedule! But it worked enough that we have never gone without one since.

Like others have said in this thread you dont have to stick to it religiously but it focuses the mind on what you want to do to make sure you don't come back and regret the fact that you missed out on something.

We seem to always go now with 'first timers' so we want to show them the best bits. We also have 2 young kids and want to make sure that we have plenty of rest days/pool days to help keep the intensity down. Our total trip time tends to have grown over the years in order to get the things we want done and still have time to relax and shop, but we always treat the itinery as 'work in progress' rather than 'cast in stone!'

You'll work it out in your own way!

Thanks for all your comments. I think I will do a rough one but be flexible at the same time. I take it I should avoid the parks on the days they have early opening for those onsite.

I have made a rough itinery this year, basicaly have written down all the things we want to do and roughly where but are flexible as you never know it might rain on a waterpark day etc..

It is a good way to make sure that you don't miss out on anything. But DON'T set it in stone. Your rest days may swap about a little and at 9 & 6 you may find they tire out quicker than you think. You will probably find that it ends up DH wants to stay in the parks well after you and DC have had enough.
