Can anyone help please?

We have just spent hours putting a friend of ours home videos onto DVD for them but unfortunately they won't work on her DVD player :(

We have a Sony DVD Recorder which will play + and - DVD's. My friend has a Phillips Recordable DVD which also says that it plays + and - DVD's. :confused2

Has anyone got any ideas as to why they won't work?

Thanks, Claire xx :wavey:

Try using a RW disk instead of the write once disk. Non RW disks need to be finalised on the recording machine before they will work elsewhere and more often than not they fail.

Is there any error message displayed on the screen ? (Wrong Region for example ?)

Which software are you using and what does the file say it is on the PC? Is it .vob .mpeg .avi etc ?

No software :confused2 It was straight from the camcorder which we plugged into the DVD recorder. Still the old tape camcorder

Got it.

What may have happened is that you recorded it to a disk using the DVD-recorder and the camera plugged in. Now unless this disk is 'finalised' it won't be able to be read in any other machine, but can be played in yours.

Pop the DVD back into your DVD recorder and choose the option to finalise it, then it will be playable on most DVD's or PC's

Cheery-bye
