View Full Version : laptop problem
I've been using my laptop with no problems for the last week or so, it is connected to the same modem as this pc ( we can't get the wireless connection to work ) for the last half hour nothing will load on the laptop - went to change pages on the dibb, nothing - tried opening tripadvisor - just a blank page - no message. I've checked the connection - diagnosis says there is no problem, I've 'repaired' it - successfully it says - but still nothing is working, it is as though I'm not connected to the net - but this pc is working fine- any ideas ?

More Info needed - type of modem usb or cable? Network modem? How PC and Laptop are connected to the modem
wireless won't work? do you have a wireless router? What is the make and model of the laptop?
Well the laptop is working (sort of ) now, it's taking an age to post replies, but the pages are opening. We have BT home hub ( say no more ! ) pc is connected with the usual cables and I plug the laptop into it with a blue ethernet ( I think ) cable . Has always worked fine before, and windows still 'can't find any problem with the local area connection ' on the pc we at least get a message giving us a clue what the problem is !
Edited to add, this reply has posted fine, but another page on which I'm posting has locked completely :confused2

If it's wireless, there have been some reports of problems after the Home Hub has upgraded itself. Try resetting the hub, if not take a look at posts at thinkbroadband.com on the forums.

Is it just affecting the Dibb now ? Or are other sites loading slowly too ?
If it is just the Dibb, if you are using Firefox, a certain 'Swarowski' advert used to cause me slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwdown problems unril I installed an ad-blocker. There has been an earlier post on this subject (Firefox slowing to a crawl), if that's any help.

I find THIS (http://www.frequencycast.co.uk/homehub.html) website helpful when I've had problems with the Homehub.....Or if push comes to shove sometimes the Indian helpline does actually help sometimes :erm:
Thanks, it's working fine again now ! :confused2 looking at the home hub link, we have the old version would I be guessing right that we'd have to pay to get a newer version ? we have the option 3 package and I think BT get enough of our money as it is, but I bet they'd want us to pay up to get a newer hub ?
