Have heard about this resturant but never been, what type of food do they serve and is it expensive. :)

Revolting food. We went last week on our last evening, at least it will be memorable for being awful! They serve 'old fashioned' American food - dumplings, biscuits, corn bread, not very good breakfasts too. Have I put you off yet?
There is quite a nice shop selling things nobody needs attached to every restaurant. Now I am sounding cynical.

I can recommend Mimi's on Osceola Parkway 100% and Bahama Breeze.

Hi James and Claire

Cracker Barrel is an 'olde worlde' home baked American restaurant!!
They are kitted out with old pictures etc.. We have eaten there at lunch time and it was ok. We wouldn't go for an evening meal though!

Here's the link to their menu:

Hope this helps.

I've had loads of meals in Cracker Barrell and never had a bad one. It's what I would describe as "home cooking US style". I'm really surprised to see so many people haven't enjoyed it there.

There is always lots a memorabilia on the walls, like vintage signs etc and games on each table such as solitaire. We find it a nice relaxing place to visit!

Regards price, 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) ate there recently for under $30 including tax and tip and we had an obscene amount of food!

This photo was just one portion, the "Country Boy Breakfast" which was steak, eggs, toast, biscuits (sort of like scones), grits (not keen on these!), hash browns, sweet fried apples and some other stuff I've forgotten:

and DD with her pancakes and a "small" portion of whipped cream:

I enjoyed this place too, we went a couple of times the onion rings were great and the coleslaw to die for. I got food poisoning ( i suspect from TGi Fridays but cant prove it) and i really only fancied something easy like what i could get here. Not as much fried stuff and plenty of veg.

everyone is different tho..

We eat here a lot. We really like it, old fashioned "dinners" and the Florida elusive fresh veg!! Not much fried stuff (which is fine by us) and a really nice shop for gifts etc.

We go to the one on the US27 near the I-4 quite regular and the guy who seats you always takes us to a particular table as we now know the server (ex-Brit) very well, we dont order anything on the menu now we just tell her what we want and how we want it, by the time we sit down our drinks are usualy on the way to our table. Must admit not had dinner or evening meal in there so cant comment..

We've eaten in a couple of different ones in Orlando - we liked the food - as others have said homestyle with veggies that are sadly lacking in most other places. The shops attached are great.
Try the iced mugs of lemonade - lovely :tounge: will be sampling it again in a couple of weeks!

I have to confess to loving this place :)

We were there for Thanksgiving Dinner and it was truly amazing, as was the price - $8.99 for a 3 course meal - I couldn't even eat desert so we go it to go...

Each time we go the car park is packed and we have to wait a bit but we just browse the shop inside, great for Christmas Decorations if you go at that time of year or ideal for Yankee Candle deals if you like them (buy one get one half price in Nov!)

We highly recommend it.

We really like Cracker Barrell, it's excellent for breakfast but we've also had other meals there too. You do have to read the menu carefully, I've had one meal I didn't enjoy but mainly because I didn't get what I was expecting. (Chicken and dumplings)
I would also ask the waitress if you aren't sure what to order.
We usually go to the one on Orange Blossom Trail next to the Target.

We have breakfast there a few times in December. Their pancakes are to die for. I have never tasted such nice pancakes. However the gravy, grits and biscuits(scones) are another story altogether. Vile. Kids had oatmeal which was very bland and made on water. Had to add loads of milk and sugar into it.

Had lunch there one day also and it was fine. Reasonable enough also.

Loved the shop attached. They had fabulous decorations in it.

It's great for breakfast - loads of choice and certainly not revolting in my opinion  2 adults it would cost approx $20 for 2 full breakfasts and drinks.

I must admit that we had one of best meals last year here.

Good, basic, honest food and reasonably priced - topped with excellent service - a real change from burgers, pizza and chicken strips for the kids.

I love the breakfasts and usually try to fit in 1 visit when I'm on hols although sadly didn't seem to have enough time in November. I've eaten dinner where I had the chicken in breadcrumbs which was nice and shared the apple cobbler as the portion was huge! The servers are really friendly. I tend not to go for dinner with DD as the vegetarian options are nil unless you take portions of the macaroni(as a side on the menu and lots of veg. Not ideal. I love the shop and always take back a few things back home with me.

The food here is okay.My daughter loves this because of the peg game which is on every table.
You can also buy these in the shop and on our first we baught about 5 of these for family and friends.
last year when we visited i was not that immpressed with the food and as someone said earlier the air con was incredibally cold we did not stay long.

We really liked the 'freshness' of the food here - especially the veggies! Don't expect fluffy suet dumplings though - the ones here are more like soft flat noodles!

Each to thei own but it's a place we'd visit on every trip at least once!

Cracker Barrel is in my opinion the best place for breakfast although the choices are not as vast as Denny's. The decor is straight out of an episode of the Waltons and the food is "Homestyle". Plentiful portions that taste great. That said, they do serve Grits which seem to come free with any specials. Grits are NOT good!

We visited the one on US 192 fr the first time on our last trip and wish we had been earlier. We loved it. DH especially loved it because it was so cheap - $35 for 4 of us to be stuffed to the gills.
