I am looking at going offsite to eat a bit more next trip and need some recommendations.
Bear in mind that last time over we ate at Golden Coral the first night - it was such an awful experience that we stuck to on-site restaurants the rest of the trip.
So - no plastic plates or queuing to pay for the meal before eating it.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you get out to the Crossroads near DTD there are a few decent places. TGI Fridays, Uno's, Olive Garden were all very nice.

There's loads but I'll kick off with three...

Bahama Breeze seems to be universally loved. Good food, massive portions and nice drinks, a relaxed atmosphere and all for bargain prices.

Sweet Tomatoes is great when you've had enough of the usual deep fried fare - lots of healthy salads, soups and pastas. It's an 'all you care to eat' buffet and an amazing price again.

Olive Garden - bizarrely as an Italian food fan, I'd not been to this place in my previous 10 or so trips but went here last time. Again - very decent food for a remarkable price. The 'free' salad is a very nice start to the meal.

(All of these places are very much 'fun food' rather than fine dining)

Cici's pizza is lovely cheap pizza if a little "school dinnerish" when you sit down.

Also had a nice meal at Nascar at Universal and The Angus Steak House (not sure of the exact title but it was at LBV) nice steaks but not a great veggie choice.

Applebees, Cracker Barrell and Bahama Breeze to name a few...

Definately NOT Golden Corral (don't let one bad experience put you off though - there are other nice places out there!) x

Applebees...so good we went there twice. The kids didn't want the kids meal choice so we asked for jacket potatoes. They got a desert too and it only cost $1.50 each.
TGI at the Crossroads, and Nascar in Citywalk were both great. Tried the NBA place in Citywalk and was very dissapointed. Planet Hollywood wasn't that great either. It's gone down hill a bit in recent years.

Wow, thanks for the really fast responses.
Sounds like we missed out on some good food.
Bahama Breeze seems to be widely recommended - definitely one to try next time I think.
I'll see what else comes up and narrow it down to a couple more.

Just to add Carrabba's Italian Grill - Kirkman Road

Magic Mining Company on 192 .. been having great steaks there since 1995 ... hasn't changed much in all those years ..

whereas lots have gone downhill imo Bennigans, TGIs and perkins and Key Kools being some that spring to mind...

though I heard its closed for refurb at the moment .. I have everything crossed that it reopens

Bahama Breeze gets my vote and Bubba Gumps.

There are also some great restaurants at Celebration..... the Town Tavern, Market Street Cafe and D'Antonio's serve excellent food and make a change from your usual chain restaurants.

Have a look at different menus online and see what takes your fancy.

ok.... all of the 'all you care to eat' places are like golden corral. so if u cant deal with the paying before u eat etc then avoid buffets! thing is, if u can get past that, golden corral is actually really decent

In addition to those mentioned above, we also liked Bob Evans, we went twice in our second week for a Turkey dinner with veg! Not fine dining by any means, but we enjoyed it.

We have many favourite restaurants, if indeed that is possible to have many favourites. However if I had to give a vote to one for really great food, great atmosphere, and pretty much guaranteed to be a memorable meal/evening then Cafe TuTu Tangos on I Drive it would be.

An absolute must for us, and the only restaurant where I will always save space for desert.

From Point Orlando, head past Wonderworks and keep going TuTus is in front of the Castle Hotel and next to a crazy golf course who's name escapes me for the moment.

My Daughter had a steak there and said it was nice. I am going to try it this trip hopefully :)

They were very good regarding her allergies too :thumb:

Loved Uno's on I drive - they do lovely pasta and chicken dishes.
HRC was great - we're going back this year for the hickory smoked brisket. BIL said they served the best steak of the hols too.
Black Angus for a great steak.

I much preferred eating offsite. Perkins, Uno, Ponderosa for value, Cracker Barrel.

Golden Corral is IMO awful, filthy, druggy waitresses and dodgy customers in the one near the I4 at the end of I Drive.
