We're doing a split trip this time - 3 nights Orlando - 3 nights New York - 8 nights Orlando.

I had the WDW Dolphin booked for both Orlando portions, but have now changed to the Renaissance Sea World for our first 3 nights. I decided to use some Air Miles so it's completely free of charge - no money exchanged hands - that's a pretty good feeling! :d: :spin:

Anyway, just wondered if anyone had stayed at this hotel and what they thought of it. I've looked on Trip Advisor and it looks pretty good now the renovations are finished. :thumbs-up We're two adults and two teens, boy and girl, so will need a rollaway in the room, has anyone done this and is there still enough room to move around? Also, are there fridges in the rooms?

We may go to Busch Gardens from there as I believe you can get the shuttle in Sea World car park?

It's the first time we've stayed offsite, so any tips, advice etc on staying at this hotel would be great! :d:

hi mazzy
we stayed here last year and are in april again, its a fab hotel, you wont be dissapointed, if there are any questions i can help you with then feel free to ask. :wavey:
The rooms are huuuuugggge, the biggest i have ever stayed in, there are 2 king size beds that are so comfy, and still plenty room, there are safes, and fridges in the rooms, and the bathrooms have 2 big sinks, which we found very handy.

hi
just stayed at that hotel for 2nd New Years eve running! Love it Love it Love it.
Great rooms--i asked and got a high floor overlooking seaworld for NY eve and it had a balcony from which we watched not only Seaworlds fireworks but also Disneys in the distance. (only i room cos of weather and young child but was a great option to have). Also hotel provided everyone with a glass of decent bubbly FOC at 11.55pm-a nice touch!

It really is a great hotel that has undergone alot of refurb in last 12 months-great plasma screens dotted around showing HD fish (looks better than sounds, believe me!!); all staff friendly at check in (free cuddly Shamu for any children) and somewhere i would definitely look to stay again and again and again.

If you need any more info dont hesitate to ask.

Kieron - thanks for telling me of your experience in this hotel, and glad to hear you had a great time! :thumbs-up How fantastic to be able to see the fireworks from your room. :d: Sounds like I made the right decision in booking this hotel.

I thought the fish were real, lol, I have a fish phobia and thought, oh well, I will just cling to the outside walls when I walk through the foyer. :pgig: I think there are real fish in a pond though aren't there? Stupid I know, but they scare me to death!

Did you have a fridge in your room? We will be making a grocery stop, so wondering if fridges are standard in rooms, as Jane said they had one.

Mazzy the fish in the foyer are all electronic now (i think!) so youcan put that phobia to bed. After the renovation work to the foyer the hotel really has a 5* feel toit as soon as you enter.
The pool area is nice and the pool side bar is well equipped for decent (and cheap) poolside food. The spas are superbly hot too!

From memory the rooms do not have a fridge but if i were you, i wouldnt hesitate ringing ahead and asking if they could accomodate your request--the duty managers i spoke too were typically focused on customer service and obliged us in everything we requested.

Hope you love it half as much as we did-please let me know!!!!

Kieron - I will get DH to check out the fish before I get too near, lol, just to be on the safe side! ;)

Yes the foyer looks good in the hotel photos, we like large hotels, our fave is the Dolphin, we are staying there for the last 8 nights of our trip, so sounds like the Renaissance is going to be great! We stayed in a Renaissance in Hollywood and it was fab. :d:

I noticed they hot tubs, so if we get chilly weather (going in March) I will know where to go to warm up.

Oh, shame you didn't have a fridge, looks like they aren't standard then, I was wondering about that, as they aren't mentioned on the hotel website. I'm going to ring the hotel in a couple of days (need to allow 48 hours for the booking to go through from Air Miles) to ask them to put a rollaway in the room, so will ask about a fridge. I'm a Marriott Reward member, so will give them my membership number and get some points hopefully as well.

Thanks for your help, and I'll certainly tell all when I return. :D

Hi mazzy
we were in room 4078, overlooking the pool , right next to the pool lift, it was really handy as we didnt have to traipse all the way through the hotel going from the pool up to our room.
Our room definately wasnt an upgraded room, it overlooked the pool and was on the 4th floor, we definatley had a fridge, how else did i keep all my goodies fresh. No it doesnt say it on the website but if we had one then even if your room didnt have one as standard then you could ask, we didnt however have a microwave that sometimes the rooms have.

yes good idea, you wont be dissapointed with the hotel, there are 3 types of room , ones like ours overlooking the pool, ones overlooking seaworld, we couldnt get them as at the time those had the one bed and sofa bed, and we needed 2 beds, and the other which i quite fancy the look of is the rooms with the internal view overlooking the atrium and restaurants and reception, think they,d be good as some had little balconies where you could sit out and watch the people coming and going on the ground floor below.
looks like i will just miss you , we are there 5-19th april. ;)

Jane - thanks for the info on the rooms. Yes we need two queens and also a sofa bed, as we have two teens, boy and girl. I was thinking the internal view rooms may be really dark, well no natural light coming in, someone on trip advisor compared them to being on the inside cabin of a ship! I like the sound of the people watching aspect though! :d:

Yes we are going to be at the Renaissance at the beginning of our trip, March 25th for 3 nights, then off to New York for 3 nights, then back to Orlando staying at the WDW Dolphin, leaving Orlando on 8 April.
