I watched a programme about bed bugs a while back and apparently it's our own habits that cause the problem. Apparently we shouldn't be putting our outside clothes on the bed and in a hotel room people have a tendancy to lie on the bed while resting.

It can happen anywhere I suppose - not nice but at least it appears Disney reacted in the appropriate manner and properly compensated the people involved.

This will please you.

A couple of years ago we had a problem with a mouse. Only one but could I hell as catch it. After doing everything apart from blowing up the house I called in a pest control company. Whilst he was here I just asked if he had alot of problems with mice. His reply..........

'Not really, it's the bed bugs that people bring back from their holidays that keep us busy nowadays'

Just how much truth there is in that I don't know but that is what he said.

I watched a programme about hotel rooms in general and believe me the 'high' end hotels were no better (and in some cases worse) than the cheap motel type.. they did the Luminol (sp) thing and all I can say is gross .. ignorance is bliss

saw a programme on bed bugs and they can get anywhere and they don't seem to 'live' in beds .. they can live in clock radios, Tvs, light switches behind carpet ..they only climb on the bed to feed .. didn't like watching that programme.. :confused2

wonder how many people might be tempted to 'find' one when staying at Disney now after hearing that families story ;) LOL bet Disney wish they had just sent them on their way now

Im not suprised, when we stayed at POFQ, the cleaning of our room was horrendous. One piece of paper stayed on our bathroom floor for the whole of our stay. The beds reeked and it needed a damn good clean.
I left a tip, oh yes I did, in the mirror on the wall which was covered in dust, I wrote with my finger - THIS NEEDS CLEANING !!!!!!

Yuk!! I'll be checking the gap between the headboard and bed now ... first thing on arrival - forget looking at the view or position of room - is it bug free!!!!

It's a bug...it's Disney...it will have a little suit and hat and sing a catchy tune...how bad can it be?

Souvenir you wouldn't want to bring home, eh :(

I laugh at people who say to me "oh, I couldn't go camping - sharing toilets and showers with all those other people" (not at the same time :D )

My answer - at least we sleep in our own beds. You don't know what people get up to in hotel/villa beds :omg: ;) ;) ........all those crumbs from midnight feasts, and all those dead skin cells for the bugs to feast on :d: :d: :d:

But that doesn't stop me - will have to keep a keener eye out and try for a freebie hol :spin:

That is what I thought. :) (as long as they didn't come home with me!) It's always good to check the beds.
