Need to book today for Christmas 2008, virgin have 10% off.
Which resort would you go for, been to Coronado Springs the pool was lovely, food absolutely dire at pepper market, not too bad at the pool.
But dont really eat there, plenty other places to eat.
Had the fridge & ironing board do all the moderate resorts have this??
I read the port orleans resort fridge available. Like to keep fresh fruit in the fridge.
Thanks
Having stayed at POR, POFQ and CBR over the past 18 months or so, I would have to say that POFQ was my favourite by far. I think I warmed to it because, relative to just about every Disney resort, it is quite small and compact which gives it a slightly more intimate atmosphere.
Beyond that my 4 year old really loved the pool and the slide and a cast member made her day one morning when she was presented with some mardi-gras style coloured beads.
I really can't remember any differences of note between the rooms in those 3 resorts.

Interesting that you should say the food at the pepper market was dire - we ate there in October and I thought it was fabulous and couldn't stop raving about it.
I also loved POFQ, it's my favorite moderate, but the food court there is pretty boring compared to the Pepper Market.
All the mods have the same facilities like fridge, ironing board etc.

Hi Bev iam a vegetarian there was very little for me. (lost 5lbs on that holiday)
Think I ended up with fries & some vegetables.
It was lukewarm.
I also forgot potato chips were crisps so my youngest son ended up with a childrens meal of chicken strips, crisps & a cookie.
Not great when he doesnt even eat crisps.( yes he is an unusual child dont know many kids who dislike crisps)
We only went once.
That was the resort I was swinging to the POFQ, the water slide looks good. I remember stopping there with the bus looked really nice from the outside. The water boat to downtown disney is another advantage.
Thanks for the replies BTW
I'm a veggie and didn't have any problem at the POFQ food court. That said, I'm not sure we used it that much - the occasional breakfast would have been about it - the rest of the time we were out and about. To be honest no food court anywhere is going to be my first choice for a meal.
It's funny because when I was staying at POR on my previous trip, we got off the bus at POFQ on the way back from a park one day and walked back to POR through POFQ. I didn't like the look of it at all - to be honest I thought it looked how I imagine a Butlins to look! As I say though, when actually staying there, I loved it and, more importantly, so did Mads.
(Chips are crisps everywhere - you'll need to ask for fries!)
...and you're right, the boat to DTD is a great benefit of both PO resorts.

I will admit to loving my meat, but my kids had jacket potatoes which were lovely, looking at the menu it doesn't look like there is a great deal of veggie choice, possibly cheese pizza or pasta with a sauce.
POFQ food court appears to have a veggie sandwich, or a veggie burger, as well as pizza but still not an inspiring choice.
However, I throughly enjoyed POFQ, I thought it was beautiful and just grinned the entire time we were staying there at how lovely it was.
I can't really comment on the veggie options I'm afraid, although Disney is getting a lot better on the whole healthy eating thing in general - I had a lot of meals which came with mashed potatoes instead of fries, for example.
All the moderates should give you the same room amenities (although the decor theme varies) so you'll get your ironing board & fridge everywhere. POR Alligator Bayou is the only moderate section which offers anything extra over the others in that they provide an extra trundle bed.
At Christmas time, POFQ might be your best bet as it's the smallest moderate so the bus queues when you leave the (very busy!) parks might be shortest.

(Sorry, going off track here a little...)
One thing I hate is the association that veggie food = healthy food, but it does seem to be a common misconception in the land of the mouse.
I remember losing patience in MGM (as it was then) on one visit 8 or 10 years ago when the only veggie food available was either a plain (ie cheese and tomato) pizza or salad.
I like some deep fried fare as much as the next man, especially on holiday so don't make me eat rabbit food continually - a bit of imagination would be nice!

Deep Fried Camembert..... Yummy and veggie friendly..... Mmmmmm
That would be a tasty addition to a menu!

Grin, so vegetarians can still eat great big gooey slices of chocolate cake then? And Mars Bars don't contain meat either... :)

Thanks Andre good thinking about the bus q.
I did find it difficult finding vegetarian food in the US, but I was expecting that.
Think the place I enjoyed most was the outback steakhouse.
I ordered the sides Baked potato, steamed brocolli, blue cheese waldorf salad & shared my crispy mushrooms.
It was nice to get some vegetables instead of fries & fries.
Wolfgang puck DTD was pretty good for veggies too had a good choice.
