We booked our 2009 holiday with Virgin using Tesco vouchers. Being DVC members we will not be using the accommodation. It seems a shame for a room not to be used for two weeks. Can I "give it away" to someone else?

I would say officially probably not, but unofficially yes. What accommodation is it?
If you 'gave it away' to a friend, they would just need flights I presume. MMMmmmmmm, how much were you 'giving it away' for?!!!

Where is the accomodation and when is it for?

It is the Wynfield Inn in the Virgin brochure. It is booked for Thursday 2 April 2009 (that is Easter next year) departing 16 April 2009 . So basically 2 weeks with breakfast.

Please PM me if you're interested.

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to pass it on to someone else! Surely there will be complications when someone tries to check-in with a different name to what's on the reservation! :confused2

Would have thought you could change the names on the booking direct with the hotel. They may make a small charge but can't see why this wouldn't be possible. They have been paid for the room so would guess they wouldn't have any issue with a different set of people staying there. I used to be a hotel manager and we did like to know who was staying as we had to have an accurate guest list for things like H&S for evacuation etc but more often than not we'd have additional people in rooms(!) and don't forget that not everyone books in under their own name and unless ID is requested by the hotel it's unlikely that actual names are confirmed. I'd certainly think it's worth a phone call to advise a change in names on the booking.
