Last year for our first visit 'home' i requested Congress park and we had a fabulous DTD view!
This year we are staying at SSR and VWL, but i haven't put in a room request!
Should i? Do the majority of people put in requests? Will i be left with a dodgy view/area if i haven't requested a specific location or is it just pot luck most of the time?
The closer it gets the more i'm beginning to stress!

I would say if you want to be somewhere in particular then put the request in, ie. high floor, congress park, grandstand etc.
At least if it's noted then you have a good chance of getting it:)

I can't help you with SSR but most, if not all of the VWL views are woods. This was our view

It had a sideways view of the quiet pool and you could just about make out Bay lake (if you squinted ;) Views on the other side of the building were also woods

That VWL pic is fab! I'm so looking forward to staying there! :)
With regards to SSR are there areas that are better than others? We loved Congress Park due to it's proximity to DTD, but we also liked the look of most of the other areas too!
Is there anywhere you really wouldn't want to stay?
Sorry about all the questions, but when we first booked i said i wouldn't be bothered where we stayed, but the closer it gets i'm starting to wonder if i should have requested something!

When we first checked in at SSR they gave us a room at The Springs, the room was really dull and faced the car park, we were changed to Grandstand. It was a lovely clean area, the pool was very quiet compared to when we walked over by the other one.
We really didnt have far to walk to the main building.

I was impressed with the Grandstand section.
The VWL have a look Click Here (http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/wildernessmap.pdf) for what views there are:)
I have read that there are 'dumpster' views but not sure which rooms these are.

Michelle, many thanks! The Grandstand was one of the areas we really liked the look of so i think i might request either there or Congress Park!

Seeing that picture of the Grandstand pool area has reminded me just how beautiful the resort is and i think i'd be happy even if they told me i had to pitch a tent on one of those lovely green areas!!! :pgig:
In 3 weeks time i'll be on the plane! :spin: :spin: :spin:

We also had a room in the Springs with a bit of a naff view, directly overlooking the mini-roundabout leading to Congress Park. It was lovely and close to the pool etc but I much preferred our room the previous year in Congress Park, with a wonderful view of DTD.
I've always thought the Carousel area is a bit far away from everything and I wouldn't fancy that, but I'd be interested to hear from anyone that had actually stayed there as that's just my impression.

I wonder if there would be a reduction in points required to pitch a tent rather than have a room?

we had aVWL room that faced the front of the resort but it was still a very 'woodsy' view, and it actually took me 2 days to work out which direction we were facing!! My only request would possibly be towards the main hotel end of the building, just because I am lazy and that would be a shorter walk.

we walked from The Grandstand to DTD it was a lovely walk from that end I would say about the same walking distance as from Congress Park , wee bridge over the golf course and you ended up at Cirque du Soleil plus it was right next to check in, Turf Club and the boat launch.
CP is great to walk to DTD but if you wanted to travel on the boat over it was quite a walk

My only comment about SSR is to request a building near one of the pools.
If we have stayed in a studio there it has always been difficult to do laundry if your room is far from a pool.
Much as I love this resort I think it could do with another couple of quiet pools.(and laundries)
