I can make my ADR's from February so have started to think about where would be the best place to eat solo? I've eaten out myself when I've been away to worky things so not totally unused to the idea but it's a first for me at Disney. Has anyone done this ??? or what restaurants would you try if you were on your own?
I like to eat somewhere nice in the evenings and put the war paint on & get dressed up a bit but don't want to stick out like a sore thumb if it's romantic/couples. It's a bit daunting but I am looking forward to my hol and if I'm honest, doing things I want to do like the spa/disney tours etc.
Last trip I saw (I booked this hol before I left for my hol so my son said I became the "solo holiday spotter" - ingrate:angry:) "solos" at Shulas, Brown Derby and Le Cellier but that was all. I had planned to eat at Konas along with O'hanas and thought about trying the Luau Dinner show but am not sure if a dinner show would be ok as a single?????
Decisions decisions:omg: HELP:cry:

After posting & reading this, I sound really lame which I'm not. Like most things I think the thought is worse than the deed so once I'm booked and I'm there I'll be fine. Open to all suggestions as long as they aren't rude!

I think a dinner show woud be ideal as a single, as you will be seated with other parties, so will have 'company', likewise Tappan Edo would work well for that too.

To be honest, I would book anywhere that takes your fancy, I don't think you will be made to feel uncomfortable anywhere.

Susie, like you I'm planning on a solo trip next year (lots of shopping, spa treatments and tours, plus meeting up with friends). Every restaurant I've eaten at I've seen solos and they've always seemed to be enjoying themselves - don't forget an awful lot of people at the Disney resorts are at conventions so there's always people dining by themselves anywhere around the 'world'.

Like Bev says, book anywhere you really want to eat at - I'm currently thinking about Blue Zoo (it's my favourite), Grand Floridian Cafe (lovely relaxed setting), Olivias, Yacht Club Galley, Raglan Road, to name but a few :pgig:

The main thing is if you're happy then the world's your oyster so to speak - if other people look at you for being 'lame' or 'sad' it's their problem :) :)

I love this quote from the great man himself, Walt Disney:

"To all that come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

"Your dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."

Thanks Ladies. I've started my list ready for when I make the call and am going to book some old familiar places along with some new ones. I've never tried Blue Zoo but after checking out the menu, it's on my list! I'm staying at the Poly during part of my stay so I'm going to book the dinner show as I've always wanted to try it. The one thing I know I'm going to do is enjoy myself and have a good time. It's a shame we aren't going at the same time Clare, we could have met up for dinner!

I'd try and see closer if there are Dibbers there and maybe have a bit of a meet, share a cruise and dinner etc.

Like you I eat alone when I have to travel with work, I originally found it daunting but no more, now I eat where I fancy rather than in my hotel room.

I'd go for what you fancy, pick nice restaurants and go for it.

I agree that dinner shows seem a great idea!!

Such a shame Susie, but sounds like you'll have a fab time - Blue Zoo is one of my favourites and I've always seen solo diners there.

Mitch, that's how I feel. I've travelled solo on business and got fed up with eating in my room, so now I eat wherever I fancy :)
