Hi,
I am just about to book our holiday in September this year, this is our first time going to Florida and we are going to stay on I Drive.
We have the choice of staying at either the Holiday Inn, Quality Inn Plaza or Best Western.
Anybody have recent experience of any of these hotels and give advice on what would be the best option?
Oh yes, its two adults going with no kids.
Many thanks

We stayed in the holiday Inn last year and it is really dated now and quite scruffy, the rooms in the tower block have inside balcony's which I feel were unsafe for children and we refused them and were put in the main block, which like I said was old and tired.I wouldnt stay there again.

we stayed at the best western movieland in november and i was pleasantly surprised, after all the negative comments i read before going. the place was clean, and really quiet but it was november. the staff were very friendly and helpful. the pool area was clean but not supervised, oh and the best part is there is a pc in every room for dibbing!
it's in a fab position on i-drive surrounded by bars and restuarants and the dairy queen is just next door for ice cream

we have just stayed in best western plaza. it was absolutely fine, clean ( in the process of getting renovated at the moment...but we didn't hear a sound), stayed in quality inn plaza 2 years ago.....of the 2 i prefered the quality in plaza, great location, it has its own restaurant so handy for a quick breakfast..also has a bar with a pool table so good for a wee quicky before bed.
rooms in both hotels were almost identical tho.
BWP has free buses to disney and universal/seaworld/wet and wild
QIP has free buses to universal/seaworld/wet and wild

we've stayed in hol inn and quality inn. I prefer hol inn to quality inn it is much nicer, cleaner looking place. The breakfast in hol inn was 100% better than Quality inn.

Can't comment on the other 2 hotels as I've never been to them but know of them.We always stay at the Quality Inn Plaza. It isn't a palace of a hotel but the staff are freindly, it's clean and the we have never had any complaints. It is situated in a far nicer part of I-Drive than the other 2 hotels and there are plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Wherever you choose you will have a Brilliant time. Enjoy!!!!

Have stayed at the Best Western Movieland 3 times now and it is brilliant. It is very clean.
The pool is great fun and there is a lovely restaurant attached to the hotel.
It is right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants and right across the road from wet and wild.
I would definately recommend you staying there.

hi we stayed at the Quality Inn Plaza in July last year for 7 nights before heading to my dh cousins villa. We really liked the QIP. It has a great location at the quieter end of IDrive, but has lots of eating places round about and the Pointe Orlando is just opposite. Rooms were comfortable and had a fridge which is def a bonus. There were 4 pools to use and the resturant was handy. It also has a deli and minimarket if you needed the essentials - although there is a Walgreens just over the road which is cheaper, and like I say plenty of places for eating within 5 min walk. We would def use the QIP again.

I didn't like QIP, but I don't know if I just got a bad room and staff who couldn't be bothered during the 2 weeks I was there. It was also full of groups of kids, obviously on school trips and they ran riot!!! Oh and the breakfasts were dire!!!
However, it's situated brilliantly, can't fault it on that at all. And it was clean.
I'm staying at Best Western Plaza this time, I've heard good and bad things. But then you're ALWAYS going to hear good and bad things about everywhere.
Good luck in your choice.

We stayed at QIP in 2004, and it was fine. As previous posters have said it is clean and adequate. We used this as a base and never actually ate at the restaurant. However the pool areas were clean and as there are a few to choose from that is great.
The location was also good as it is at the bottom of I-drive rather than in the middle. Pointe Orlando is opposite and Friendlys is just up the road and they do an excellent breakfast!!
Can't comment on the other choices, but would stay at QIP again.

have stayed at QIP and BWP. Would not rturn to BWP as DW jewellery went "missing"from room. Compalined to staff and was told that tehy wouldnt reply to holiday insuarnce company incase it implicated tehm or rendered them liable for the loss!! Also room key stopped working and the desk clerk on during night had an argument that my mobile phone deacivated the card. He wouldnt listen when I told him that I had no phone and at one point thretyaened to throw me & family out of hotel at midnight !!! I was not pleased to say the least
QIP pleasent staff breakfast bad but sizzler only 2min walk across car park + 3 pools and bar etc

We stayed in Best Western PLaza in December and it was great. Nice location , 2 trolley stops from Pointe, really clean, good sized rooms. Free shuttle buses to all Universal and Disney parks which was a great plus too. We were two women, me and little sis, and our two girls, 3 and 11, felt very safe there and never saw any bother at all. No groups of rowdies etc. Had a great time there.
The rooms were very safe, never had any money , ipods, cameras etc go missing. Very very good place to stay.

we stayed at the holiday inn a few years ago and it was fine .. nice big rooms with fridge and microwave and stayed at the best western in july :spin: they were doing up the rooms then but my only complaint would be the noise from the I4 which was right outside our door ( block 3 ) oh and the courtsey bus was a death trap
Hi All,
We stayed in the QIP a few times now and are going to book again for this December (or may be swayed to the doubletree castle again  ).
Always found the rooms to be clean and the staff friendly. Its a good base and I prefer that end of the drive.
Andy.

Have stayed in QIP twice now and have booked to stay there next November. Its not fancy but serves its purpose and I like the location of it as its in the quiet end of I-drive (not far from the convention centre. Never had any problems only thing I would say is if you book the QIP ring them up (you can get their no from their website easily enough) and ask for a room that DOESN'T look onto the I4 - we requested this last time as we had heard about a lot of road noise and they accommodated our request (sorry no pun intended). That reminds me, I need to ring them re this for our latest booking :d:

we stayed in the Quality Inn Plaza Sept 06 and loved it, we have booked to go back this year. the apartment was clean and tidy everyday. we didn't have any complaints, the shopping centre opposite the hotel has just been done up, and the wonderworks are directly opposite the entrance. mcd's and kfc up the road, aswell as crazy golf, icecream factory, and various other food outlets. Our fav was the Ponderosa for breakfast eat as much as u like for $4.00 and when theres 5 of u thats a gr8 start. Seaworld is 5 min drive one way and Universal 5 mins the other way, not to mention wet n wild across the road from universal, along with the Pirates Dinner show all within your reach.
