View Full Version : Questions about hiring ECVs

As mentioned before in a previous post, I have chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. I realise this is going to cause me much discomfort and downright pain when visiting the main parks. I’ve never let it beat me and generally manage fine at home with my Blue Badge when getting about. However, I realise I’m more than likely going to need to hire an ECV when I’m in Orlando. Hubby’s not impressed with the idea but he’s going to have to like it or lump it. If anything it’ll give him somewhere to put his rucksack so he doesn’t have to carry it! I know there are options to hire from an offsite company or hire each time at the parks. I also know we have to be there early to get one if hiring from the parks as they go very quickly. I hope you don’t mind but I have a few questions…

What happens to the ECV when you’re on the rides? Is there somewhere to secure it so no-one walks off with it? What happens IF someone does walk off with it, particularly if it’s an offsite rental?

Can you only hire the park ones at the main entrance? I’m tempted to try going without one on my first day and see how I get on and then alternate park days with waterpark / leisurely days so I’m less active every other day. I’m worried that if I flag at the other side of the park that I’ll be stuck!

If you hire one say at Magic Kingdom, can you take it with you to any of the other Disney parks you may visit that day?

That's all for now ;)

Thanks :)

You can leave them oustide the rides, but you take the key with you so I don't think they are easy to steal. When you get to Disney you will see masses of parked strollers and ECVs parked everywhere, I don't get the impression theft is a big problem.

The Disney ones are at the park entrance, but there are manual wheelchairs in the carpark that you can use to get to the gate.

the ECV would stay at MK, but you could get a new one in Epcot using your MK ticket (assuming there were any left)
