Hi - would really like some advice please on Mickeys Backyard BBQ. When we go in Sept/Oct :cool2: am thinking of booking this for me, DH, DD (7) and DS (3) becuase I was led to believe (after reading some reviews) that kids are encouraged to get up and dance with the characters etc. rather than sit patiently as is the norm with character dining. However I've now read some more reviews (on allears) which state you have to get there about an hour before the event starts, make a mad dash for a good seat, that there are no co-ordinators with the characters and that the food is pants! :confused2

Would anyone recommend this - or would we be better trying a differenct show? We are on the free DDP - maybe we should use the 2 credits for 2 other character meals?

Any help would be much appreciated. :wavey:

Its really difficult to answer really as it is personal taste. Some love it some hate it. For us it was just ok. There was plenty of food and it was standard BBQ stuff. Not very much for veggies though.

The music is country and western and they have a band that plays on the stage. The characters do come out and have a boogie and they pose for photos and autographs. We did find the queues for the characters to be fairly long though.

But if i am honest my boys 6 and 5 at the time, didn't really get into it. They spent most of the time playing on their DS's!!:confused2

They much preferred the characters meals, we love those.:thumbs-up

We did it on the free DDP last Sept. It wasn't chaotic and we got a table no problem. We wouldn't go back but are glad that we tried it.

But i am a firm believer in trying things for yourself. We have tried lots of things after hearing poor reviews and most of the time we have loved them.
