When i was young I always remember seeing Universal Studios advertised along with a 'ride' or tour that took you past things from famous film sets, in particular I have an image of the 'Psycho House' from the Psycho films, up on a hill, that was part of the ride/tour. Was I imaginging this? Is this still there???
Please help!!!

Hi,

I'm sure they do a Backlot Tour in Universal Studios Hollywood taking in some of the sights you mention.

Hi

I remember doing a tour probably about 27 years ago that had the psycho house up on a hill but this was at the universal studio's in california not orlando. Don't know that they do them in orlando.

I also think it may be Universal Hollywood you are thinking of. I went on a backlot tour there where I saw sets from Ghost Whisperer, Back to the future, The Mummy, War of the worlds and loads more. They actually film there, its a working set, so its probably the one you mean.

It was the original Universal studios tour in LA that does this, we last went in 2006 and the tour took in the Desperate Housewifes lot.

There WAS a Psycho house at Universal Orlando years ( I last saw it in 1996, although not part of a tour I think) . It was where MiB is now and was on the way to the old Hard Rock Cafe (which was shaped like a guitar!)

for a 1990 Universal!

Yes there definitely was a Psycho house on a hill wayyyy back.

We were there for our honeymoon in 1990 and I remember it well because they were filming Psycho IV at the time and we saw Henry Thomas, who was starring in it (the boy from ET) and other members of the cast.

It was a walking tour I think - or at least we were on foot when we saw the cast members.

They still do tours at Universal Orlando, I don't know how much behind the scenes stuff you get to see though. They are advertised on the resort website I think, I'm waiting for details about the R.I.P Tours at Halloween.

The original Bates Motel is a set seen on the Universal Hollywood Backlot Tour. This is the best backlot tour IMHO as has been said before is still a working studio and often has 'hot sets' of films and tv shows in production.

I remember the Bates Motel next to the Hard Rock Cafe well, guess things change all the time, what happened to the 'old' HRC was it knocked down?

It's going to look a lot different since I was last there.

i THINK, there used to be a backstage tram tour at universal orlando, but they got rid of it as there wasn't much to see.

Just to confirm the HRC is still there and open (its supposed to be the biggest in the world), there is a list of all the cafes here http://www.hardrock.com/locations/cafes3/locator.aspx
